While a BBQ is a great idea, on Australia Day getting somewhere suitable for a BBQ for that many people will be a bit tough methinks......and I hope it is quite a LOT of people!

You have that right Ms Frog last year was the Irish place and the year before Newy foreshore, both great choice imo. A big pub is usually a good and safe choice.

hey arden! that looks good! thanks for the suggestion!!
if we can get 30+ ppl, then we can book a private room (if need be) and maybe get a set menu for a set price. the prices look okay, but i was thinking if we could get a set menu including a drink for $15 most people would be happy with this. but who knows! i'll have to get my heckling skills to use on this one

actually, this does raise a question: to get a good idea of where to have lunch, what are ppl prepared to pay for lunch on the day?
i am prepared to pay up to $16 for a meal.

otherwise the other idea is to see if they would put on a BBQ with salads for us and cordial, just like Kitty organised on the June 04 cruise to Tidbinbilla, Canberra. we'd hopefully be looking at maybe $12 a head?

A couple of $$ makes little diff imo.
We'll spend HEAPS more just on petrol with a day like that. It's a once a year thing....

Trying to keep costs under control is very much appreciated, but whether it's $15 or $17 for a meal, I can't see how it's a make or breaker.......

But Leigh (and Arden), you're doing great for everyone and I'm sure it's appreciated.

good work arden!
i was going to get around to doing sth like that 2moro

if arden has put you on that list and you are NOT coming, copy and paste it and DELETE your name.

if you are NOT on that list and you'd like to come, copy and paste and ADD your name.

obv, we understand that certain committments might arise b4 the 28th jan and you might have to pull out. if that happens, please remove yourself from the list so we can have a good idea of who's coming.

arden: the new bridge sounds like a MAD idea!! will have to look at the maps again and see where it is exactly.

critter: you are right. a few dollars doesn't make much of a difference, but i know there are people on here who will be spending a lot of money on petrol, accommodation, etc, and if it's at all possible, i'm sure they'd like to keep the costs down for lunch. but we'll see closer to the date.

Once again, the weekend before would've been easy as it's within my holidays, but the 28th is a problem and will interfere with work. Not likely I can make it for that weekend with my boss as unreasonable as he is...

looks good so far! glad to see so many people supporting their AGT community

and if you'd like to invite a friend - either their car or in the passenger seat - the more the merrier! so it would look sth like this in the list, for eg: red frog + 1. even if you are a maybe, put your name down too, for eg: twiggy *maybe*. just so we can get a rough idea of who's coming, so we can book a lunch venue thank you for your cooperation everyone.
