Gauging Interest in Oil Filter Relocation Kit

I'm looking into an oil filter relocation kit for Astina's. It will be made of Aeroflow products and will come as a kit ready to be installed, no need for cutting hose or clamping. It will feature braided stainless steel lines or lightweight Nylon braided lines with CNC'd fittings. It will be firstly available for the BJ (as this is the easiest for me to develop on, but i can also make up kits like this for BA's or BG's if measurements are provided). I need peoples opinions on where the best place to mount it would be, after all, you are the end consumer.

Aeroflow also makes a number of other adapters and fitting for all fluid transfer if you want to check out their stuff http://www.aeroflowperformance.com

Here is what the kit will be made of ->http://www.aeroflowperformance.com/catalog/index/oil_systems

I have emailed the distributor about pricing, it will vary depending on the type of line used and how long the line is. I should have a price on Monday for you.

Cheers!

It will either be a K&N filter or Ryco filter at this stage, buyers choice

might as well add a cooler + thermostat control to it too while you're at it!

Very nice stuff. I'd be interested in a BG one but not for a while, which I don't think will be a problem as you're doing BJ first. Either side of the radiator in a BG Astina front bar has a decent space in the bumper to get air to a little cooler.

Haha all out :P The kit would make it a lot easier to add a cooler later on though.

Check out my project log as there should be pics in there as to where I put my oil filter relocation

Also, check out Greddy / Grex for a relocator that has an inbuilt thermostat and oil cooler ports Feel free to work out your best price for it too

Not brand sorry man, type. Are you just going to use stock filters or a bigger filter?

The filter mounting plate has a 3/4" -16 thread (slightly smaller than the standard m20 thread by 1mm) so a filter from a Commodore VL 6Cyl would fit in theory (obviously ill make sure of this). It is 102mm high by 82mm diameter (Ryco Z145A) whereas the K&N stock F block filter in front of me is 60mm high and 65mm diameter (HP1008) and the K block filter which is longer (80mm, HP1010). So yes, a larger filter can be run

And Orion, where you've got yours looks like a good spot. What do you think of it?

Have you got a link to the greddy relocation kit? I can't seem to find one with cooler ports and thermostat, just ones with gauge ports
EDIT: The side entry remote filter head has 2 inlets and 2 outlets if you want to add a cooler + a port for a gauge. Its up in the link to the Aeroflow catalog

Any chance of getting a sandwich plate as an optional extra?

I don't think it would quite as sophisticated as the Grex item, but you can do basically that with the aeroflow stuff without the thermostat :/.

The sandwich plate can definitely be an optional extra :P

Yeah I don't need anything fancy. Just want to be able to plug in a Oil Pressure Gauge and maybe temperature.

EDIT: I don't need a cooler.

my not just get a mx5/miata kit so you dont have different threads and filters and you have the holes for the sensors.

If you mean from Aeroflow doesn't make any kits specifically. They have plates which will mate up the block, and an external mount which only comes in one filter thread size, 3/16.

If you mean by a different brand, i already have an account with a supplier who distributes Aeroflow and it is hard to get an account with distributors when you tell them you only have an online store.

With the Aeroflow gear, the new filter will be bigger all round and be able to support either gauges and/or an oil cooler either from the remote head or from a sandwich plate.

A tpiece fitting would probably be better then a sandwich plate now that I think about it *shrug*
