thanks scott. yeah everything happened so fast and i didnt even realised how lucky i was until i settled down and thought about it. i also managed to missed 3 massive trees and few big rocks on the side of the road.
yeah i think the chassis is pretty stuffed. so i guess getting it fix will cost a fair bit as well and i dont have any spare cash sitting around. i guess the last thing i'll do is to sell all parts as everything is working fine and the engine only has 164500kms on it. |

Good to hear you and your mate are ok - that's the important thing.
But yeah,i'd say well and truly a write-off.

Bugger mate
Cars come and go atleast u have your health there isn't a mechanic in the world I think that would attempt to revive that sort of damage. If your really on2 it you could buy another astina with a naff motor and do the swap round yourself and save some pennies, probably your cheapest option right now. Good luck! what ever you do |

it's frustrating because everything works perfect apart from the screwed up chassis and axial. i might pull it apart for sale. also i'm really lucky that my uni holiday just started so i have 1 month to sort things out.

its phucked,
but yeah reshell is probalby best option if u want an astina, otherwise theres a few nice fun cars u can get for zilch. maybe an old rolla or something. see if u can find an rwd 323 (old school) no power but fun. or do both (new daily while the re-shell is a wip)

Good to hear no human damage. Sad to see another Mazda Written off, its amazing the amount of damage a 60 kmh crunch can do. Astie tomorrow when the shock of it all wears off make sure your neck is ok cause you are probably still full of shock adrenilin and not really feeling any pain.
when your in a spin and come to a crunching stop and are spun back the other way your neck gets whipped around without you even realising it . Hope every thing turns out well for you. |

at least you're safe. i know its been said but i'd be more worried about the persons health rather than the health of a car after an accident.

Hey Champ,
Glad you alright thats the important bit ! but i know what you mean by pot hole etc.. on road in the wet it is so dangerous even at a slow speed and in sydney lately with this rain and pot hole feels like that get bigger, and when you car is lowered at a low speed it still scares you once you go over it, feels like that car is going to fall apart. But again good to hear your well, |

thanks everyone.. i'm totally fine. unfortunately the car is not insured so that's sad.
what do u guys think about repairing it? i mean i dont mind waiting for parts from the wreckers but is that possible within $2000 with some diy panel beating as well? how about mechanically? will that be a big trouble? thanks for your help. |

it's a write off - in terms of repair costs. not even a panel beater would waste time- only if you had a FREE - note FREE DONOR CAR.
the main cage is fine but the work in getting the sub frame and other bits in the front right - FORGET IT. the rear alone - is $250 for rear bever - about $200 for internal beaver bummper - tailgate - rear parts it's over $2K regardless of 2nd hand or new. a 2nd hand rear section striaght fitted - repaired - about $1200 if you get the rear section for about $500. proberly come down now due to old car so maybe $200 -$300. but I hate to sound like an old fart but it's a lesson. BALD TYRES - TOO FAST FOR ROUND ABOUT. WET condition. Driving to the conditions is Always important. I got broken bones in my left hand with 2 fingers free I use to change gear - I drive to the condition daily. I don't car If go slow because it's the safest way. But your okay lucky it was only poles and main thing is to remember it for next time. Keep your car in check. Sounds like as well your extremely LUCKY the cops didn't get you that's 3 things GONE- Unroadworthy car - NEG -driving ($395 + 3 points - possible court appearance if your a P-plater) Plus another one to deal with damage to public property, that one the councils love to chase you up on |
