Code is G5MR....which means it's not a BA g-series...so does that mean it's from a BG astina then?
So another question: what box is in the KF
and one more: will the aforementioned fit the KF

Rupewrecht:

From the Haynes destruction manual. ".. a G5M-R unit is used with the BP DOHC engine for 1990 through 1992 model years. The 1993 and 1994 transaxles were... G25M-R for the DOHC engine."

also "All transaxles are virtually identical except for different gear ratios." whatever that means.

boosted batman:

Ok I'm guessing KF was SOHC. I don't know what years KF came out, but, from Haynes manual 1.8 or 1.6 engine (BP and B6) had F5M-R for 1990-1992 SOHC models , and F25M-R for 1993-94 SOHC models. 1995 and later had F25M-R for B3, B6 and Z5 (hope you know what those engines are, cause I don't) engines.

KL = 2.5l V6
KF = 2.0l V6
K8 = 1.9l V6
BP = 1.8l i4
B6 = 1.6l i4
Z5 = 1.5l i4
B3 = 1.3l i4
D5 = 1.5l i4
UC = 1.4l i4
TC = 1.3l i4
FE = 2.0l i4
F2 = 2.2l i4

The list goes on and on and on :?

The KF is the quad cam v6 found in a select few astinas from 94-98(same engine as the Eunos 500). it fits the crowd between the Eunos 30x (1.8 DOHC v6) and the MX6 (2.5 DOHC v6).
its adifficult one. If there are other learned members who may have the info t this Q then feel free to be heard,
What gearboxes can be found in the KL-ZE and the Eunos 2.3L miller cycle [(if it came in manual???)if not what box would fit the engine if possible]
:? :? :?

I went to a wreckers that apparently had an F Series for $550. didnt check the serial number and said i'd think about. Went back the next day after deciding to take it, checked the serial number and it was G5MR...

hmm the dilemma:
do i buy a gearbox that wont fit but i can build up in the long run?
or say i dont want it?

well, i just kept my mouth shut about it being a G5M...and only paid $550 for it!

but then i had to go find another F Series to put in...and found a very VERY low km one for the same price!

i bet you hate me now

I've never paid more than $350 for an F series box. :P But your rate on the G series box is about what I'm looking to pay for a working one. I can't even find one that's been exchanged.

Rang another place up here in Newcastle today........

OUTRAGEOUS QUOTE OF THE MONTH
G series gearbox - $1100 exchange

I can get 4wd boxes for cheaper than that!!

Commonly the F series box. F520 4

Speaking of that. My G series box is a G520. Rupe, you said yours was a G5M...I wonder what the difference is.

someone said in an earlier post that mines from a 90-91 BG...but don't quote me on that

ah, and re F series prices - the BA ones are harder to find...and most places wanted about $800 exchange! As to wether they're any different to the BG ones, i have no idea...probably not :/

Mazford in NSW want $1275 for a G Series!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

and still havent heard back from mazdaformance
