snap - shes dead jim

Wellll there goes my suspension plans.

One of the bars on my rear left arm has snapped, and as a result, rear left wheel can turn from left to right freely.

recently, I had a wheel alignment done by bob jane's. What im wanking to know is is it possible they aligned the wheel in such a way that it placed too much strain on the bar, snapping it.

I was reversing, slowly, out of a driveway, turning right.

What I need to know is how much is it going to cost to fix and is it possible that bj's fked it so I can hit them up for the money?

Thanks
Ian

no, they just bust with time, small cracks become big breaks - probably sundays workout just finished the job... the threading has probably stripped away - its a cheap 2nd hand part if its the part i'm thinking of... do worry, it wont hurt your plans too much.

maybe fix same time as doing suspension mods

BOB JANE??!!??@@!!##

Dude... WTF?

I will bet you all my cars, that you could do to a different "tyre place" and your allignment will already be miles out.... TWO things...

Tyre places know NOTHING about wheel allignments, and are flat out knowing anything about tyres, i mean hell, i got realy desperate once, and NEEDED a wheel allignment on a sat so i went to bob jane at lawnton, and aside from trying to talk me out of the allignment which i wanted, they didn't even have the right size allen key to do the job, and had to walk across the road to autobarn to buy one... Yeah, cause they're aren't many ppl driving round in G200 charades????

Tyres places DO NOT 1. check tyre pressures before doing the allignment, and 2. DO NOT compensate for lateral run-out for before doing it!!!!! I'm not going to try and explain what LRO is, but it dramatically effects wheel allignments...

On the northside of brisvegas... 3 places that know their sh!te... 1. Pedders at Geebung (remember each pedders is privately owned, and they AREN'T all the same ie. avoid lawntown) 2. Fulcrum at Stafford, and 3. Leda Suspension at Brendale....

And for tyres, Hornibrook Motorsport in Geebung...

Stick to that, you'll get the best advice, best product and best price... SIMPLE!

Anything else to add Nate?

snap?? whats gonna go next mate

the only way you are going to know what it is going to cost is to find out what is borken and ring up mazda and get quotes on replacement parts. its more than likely that is just a nut come loose from the allignment, too get money out of them there has to be damage and you have to prove fault in there work

yeah, but try telling some people that the place that sells them their fully sik chrome 22" rims know nothing about wheel allignments! Its a lost cause sometimes!

Sorry about the dodgy quality of the photos, they were taken on my phone and thats the best it can handle.

Anyway this isent something that can sit. I need a car by saturday or im stuffed so it has to be fixed today, friday.

If anyone knows a place within 10km of bracken ridge that can get this fixed quickly and not overcharge me, id like to know.

Thanks.

its all good.

Unfortunatly I had no choice but to get it towed into a mechanics today. There gona charge me 65 for a wheel alignment, 90 for an hours labour (****ing rip-off) and 80ish for the part.

I really didnt have a choice however. The car must be running by tommrow, otherwise I will be up a creek without a paddle.

Such is life.

Pitty i didn't see this earlier. I helped a mate change it on his laser about 5 months ago. For future reference the part is called a rear trailing arm. The stress is caused from the sway bar....it's basically just one of those things. You're lucky like my mate was that it didn't snap doing 110km/h, it happened the same to him as it did to you and that was backing out of a driveway.

He picked up another trailing arm for $30.

You really need to buy yourself a decent tool kit and a pushbike
