fuel pump wire in

Hi guys, the fuel pump relay always seems to come after the main relay in most standard setups. Is that to provide extra contingency in case the pump relay fails, sticks on and leaves the pump running? Could i have the pump relay wired direct off the battery (fused of course) e.g. pin30 from batt, pin86 to pump?

it's after the main realy so it is dosconnected when not in use.

you could wire it directly. just remind yourself everytime you turn off the car, to turn off the fuel pump also.

Thats an easier way to say it. I could break the big battery feed with a big amp kill switch for protection. In my case it would shorten and clean up the fuel pump wiring.

If you're not having a clock/radio etc. Why not just have a huge off switch in the dash as suggested.

There are kill switches on the neg and pos. batt cables. The need to use them all the time for redundency means independent circuits for central locking and stuff.
Another switch wouldnt hurt.
