QR Sprint day
One of the guys over on the TOCAU forums pm'd me this morning wondering if any of us would like to go out with them for a bit of a burn around QR's spring track....
Tracks Basically the same rules as drag days from a saftey point of view - full body coverings (long sleeve shirt and long pants), and a suitable helmet (helmets can apparently be hired). er... heres what I got told.... Quote:
Might be a good bit of fun for those twisties warriors who don't get out to the drags with us.... I dont know if i'll make the date they have on the TOCAU thread but it looks like it could be a bit of a perpetual thing... put your interest/ideas here and i'll forward it onto the appropriate corolla. Seems like it'd be pure fun - I'd assume for saftey reasons they would not allow passing or anything else like that, and would just space the cars out so you can get a decent run at the track....anyway...share you thoughts...i'll pass them on |

personally i'd prefer to go around morgan park
and that'll be a saturday afternoon sprint. last i heard they were getting 200+ cars to the events and you were uber lucky to get more than 1 7 lap go. oh and you race on the clubman circuit |

I reckon QR is a bit fast to be any fun in our cars (more freakin scary). the abundance of corners and slower straights of morgan park would definetly suit better.

I'm sure QR is better than nothing, but it just and exercise in hard accelleration and braking mostly. And not all of us have 12" brakes.

Sprint is definately the most enjoyable for cornering. Only 2 really hard corners to worry about, depending on how big your balls are at turn 1...

It be go hard or go home on that corner, alot of lap time lost if you don't atempt it a good speed. My BA would love it but hate the switch between the Crossover into turn 6.

The crossover into turn 6, is where I would have the most fun! I reckon I could pull a nice great big FWD drift (the type ppl reckon I can't do) off that Dipper and around turn 6 aswell.

Nah, you'd d it on the digger easier cos is slopes away from you in the 1st 50%. So you could quite easily apex the 1st bit sideways and exit the 2nd half of the diper straight, ready for that back straight run.
The Crossover into turn 6 is very wide and flat, so harder to do. Ryan |

For sure, much easier to use weight shift at the Dipper, my favourite part of that track any time of the day.
Turn 6 is slightly uphill from memory, if I treated it as a regular right hander like at Lower Beechmont I could prolly pull it off. If not I would have to get creative and use the kerb to stick my front wheel in roundabout style. I foresee a few 180 spins trying to do this however... |
