Hey Doug, did you get your car fixed?
It's a shame you couldn't make it on the 26th last week! Take it easy, Gav. |

wat I am worried about is, a 10psi, forged internals sp20? can not beat a stock turbo astra? not good news? I expected us (astinas) to wipe the floor with them?
also, does runit have nos? |

The BJ Astina is a physically bigger car, maybe weight works against us to some degree? Also the Turbo Astra is known for putting the power down quite well... Add to that it develops maximum torque at 1900-2000rpm!!!

and who knows? a fumbled gearchange, a bumpy road, too busy looking at the other car rather than your own - all these things and plenty more can distract you LOL

i can tell you that i have taken astra sri's out running 14psi (they were running it) when i had high compression and 8psi... i've taken out quite a few in this condition... astra's are slow and i think either jeff messed something up or the story has more detail in it than we know... plus i know for sure that jeff has just finished running his engine in so he might have been babying it knowing he take him up high...

While this is probably going to seem like BS to most of you, I had a play around with an SRi turbo about a month or two after their release. He wasn't pullling away from me at all - really which suprised me. Perhaps it was still new and so the motor hadn't loosened up etc, I dunno. They're supposed to pull 15.2 ish 1/4 mile from the factory. A standard KE fwd turbo (mechanically identical to my BF) of a friends pulled 15.4 on a G-Tech. Hopefully I'll get to run mine sometime before I get the new turbo.

Not real encouraging for us bj owners wanting to use snail power to get our little cars hooting!!!!!
Well until someone actually does something locally with a 1.8 i think ill go na because Andy is running 15.45 Na and he still has the Engine Mangement to come so im thinking by the time he has that done he should break into the high 14s for a fraction of the price of turboeing. Yes I know with fi bang for buck is much better, but 130 kw out of a 1150 car is a pretty nice power to weight ratio and I could scare a few cars around town with turbo like performance but no snail involved. |

this may sound childish, or even petty but all i have to say to you tidy_protege is that you haven't driven your car on boost...
i don't know a single person in the world that would dislike the feeling of a turbo in there car, i love the fact that i have it because its on my terms (my car, with all the creature comforts without buying a skyline) women, suburbs hell probably whole parts of cities have been won and lost over boost, it is a drug that once hooked is hard to quit. Everyone has to have more. I really wish i'd come on the cruise now, then maybe i could bring you more willingly to the dark side... lol my theological 2c

Hey Doug,
I gave up on the HiBoost/Street Dreams group buy due to lack of interest, but I will be looking at FI next year after I have maxed out my car with NA mods, probably to the tune of 100kW atw. Then I may be considering supercharging with a small twin-screw or silent-drive unit. I will already have the MicroTech LT8s by that time, so the supercharger should be as simple as just finding the right unit and appropriate plumbing to finish the job. This way I won't need to toss away my cams and exhaust, so that will limit the cost to a large degree. Gav. |
