Flashing airbag light
Apologies if in wrong section.
The airbag light started flashing recently, flashes for about 5 seconds then off for one second, then continues again, don't know why it started, nothing significant happened recently at all besides general driving. On a mazda 323 astina 1997 Is it best to take it to an auto electrician or a mechanic to get this looked at? there's no local mazda either so.. I just don't want to be paying for guesswork at a mechanic that's all cheers |

the amount of time it flashes indicate what the fault is. googling would probably come up with what 5 flashes means.
6 is drivers airbag fault and 7 is passengers airbag fault for example. |

Mine started doing it 12 months ago. I pulled the airbag out and begun investigating but didn't get far. I've been told by others it is more likely to be the clockspring in behind the wheel. I have since put the airbag back in as the poo poo didn't like it out being out. I still have the flashing. I've just learnt to deal with it as I don't wanna spend the money to fix it.
