Best explanation for it that I have seen so far this would have to have been what happened - Dad had an accident in the car like 6 years ago while he was still driving it and they must have cheaped out on the lights!

I looked through the manual last night and I swear it only had wattages - however I've proved to myself that I can't read twice this week already so I'll have another look after dinner

Thanks for the help by the way! Reason why I'm making up the list in the first place is thinking of changing to LEDs...

they are not a wedge, they are a bayonet. what type i do not know. But it is smaller than a BA15S.

I also found the dome light had issues using a 31mm festoon. just a little too wide. a 27mm one seems to fit the bill. although finding a 8 watt festoon in Australia is impossible. lol I just use a 27mm 4 SMD globe now.

maybe you are right. i haven't looked at the book in years. maybe i'm just remembering wattages also, are confusing them with the name of the globes.

also another spanner in the works. the number plate light on a hatch is not a BA9s. BA9s has a long and pointy glass. the hatch globe is short and semicircle like.

You are correct. Only wattages shown. I was confusing it with a Mazda 3 owners booklet, which shows the globes and wattages. Same text, fonts, layouts etc.

I have a 97-06 type B owners booklet. Pages 7-34 to 7-41 shows diagrams of all the blubs and replacement proceedures, just not the name of the globes.

Interesting that the Australian booklet also shows the JDM type B clear hatch fog lights w/ H1 globes and the JDM map and interior light that are seperate units.

Hatch:-
Reverse = BA15S 21W
Number plate = BA9S 5W

Also the boot light in the hardtop looks to be a wedge, not a fesstoon.

so a non-SP20 BJII is H4 combined on the front headlights, can I use just any old H4, or does it have to say H4 combined Hi/Lo?

Any H4 is a combined Hi and low. All H4 globes are a dual filament.

So yes any will do

I have had Phillips crystal visions in mine since the weekend after I bought my car. So like 15 months now? Used them morning and late afternoon for around an hour each way (so 2 hours per day) done this basically everyday. And basically all night weekends. Globes look and work million times better than generic ones.

I went downto Repco and Super Cheap, it turns out that they were FAR more expensive than I had budgeted for. Bloody ridiculous.
