Congrats.
Not just dont become a "look at me I have a convertible" pretentious wanker , or start calling it a "sports car" :P what was wrong with the windscreen ? |

uh oh...... I already have called it a sports car numerous times.
the windscreen has a couple of chips (one is cracking) and also has some pitting. so it wont pass a roadworthy with it like that.

There's no official definition of a sports car ( and Mazda do call the MX5 a sports car - probably to boost sales ) , but I always expect something with a bit more power.
But its a great car so enjoy it |

Looks like fun! And yeah I'd call that a sports car; I reckon it's more to do with the way that the car is designed for fun rather than practicality, as opposed to outright power.

Well there is always the SE and SP versions for more power, but I pretty much define any sports car as one that was designed for that purpose only....the MX-5 originated from the ground up as a balanced sports car, as did the RX-7.......even though my Skoda goes hard, it was ultimately a car that was designed for practicality and then a sports version made......
If I didn't need to carry a lot of stuff 3 or 4 times a year for work, I so would have got an MX-5 years ago. |

first mod will be a rollbar.
thiking Brown Davis, or possibly MX5plus. Brown Davis is CAMS approved, whereas I'm not sure if the MX5Plus is or not.

ok, Yesterday I cleaned the car's drains, turns out the driver's side rear drain was nearly completely blocked, causing water to pool on the rear parcel shelf and soak the carpet.
the passenger side was better, but still blocked. after a few minutes of feeling around for the drain hole I grabbed some sprinkler tubing and worked it in there, after a bit of jiggling it all gave way, a big wad of brown rotted leaves and dirt fell out the drain exit, followed by all the water. result, drains clear, no more water in car! now that the car was watertight I could set about cleaning it. here's the result: there are a few bug on it in the pics, but that's because I drove out to the local resort thing for the first few pics and then out to the Winery for the second few. used Megs Gold class wash, Mother's convertible top cleaner, Aquatouch MF wash mitt, Waffle weave drying towel, waxed with OCW.
