Well, he should have supplied you with a RWC if it's registered,. Give Vicroads a call and ask them what you should do - you might be able to talk to someone that can offer some advice

Well, 18 items that need to be changed... The mechanic is my cousin brother friend so he discounted the cost but still need 2000+..

I don't know where is the list of items that need to be changed but I remember some...

2 Engine mount broken
Timing belt and some stuff = $600
Previous owner said the car just had a service but my mechanic said the oil is VERY dirty and thick = mechanic said will wash my engine for free
Front and rear break left 20%
plate light and wiper and stuff = $50
Boot broken
Window Broken
4 Tyres is definitely not safe to drive
Oil leaks

These are things that I can remember and its not even half of them... The list is really long...

i take it that this was the first car you bought... the only car ive bought and will buy are those which are destined for the scrap heap and only have parts i need in them... sucks for you buddy but 4 illegal tyres - wouldnt you have noticed that - in QLD i know you have to get a safety cert to sell - ie eveythign is roadworthy... not looking good :S

as ryan said.. if he was selling it UNREGISTERED than he doesnt need a RWC (deeeeeer) but if he sold it to u registered then he needs a RWC. also since he didnt give u transfer of ownership the car is still in his name (unless it was stolen..) if he doesnt give u the money back i suggest u take it past quite a few speed cameras well no that wont solve anything... talk to vic roads. talk to a lawyer or a firend who has experience with this. if u cant take him to court and get ur money back then drive it past a few cameras. because for him to get out of the fines he would have to say that the car was sold in which case he would have to supply a transfer of ownership paper

I just talked to vicroads and they said there's nothing that I can do but to bear with the cost for the repair... Well if I take it past speed cameras, my face will be on their cameras hahaha...

I know its too little too late, but i always get the car checked , ie nrma, racq, racv or even my local mechanic before even considering handing any cash over.

The wrong decisions in life usually cost you a bucketload, but you sure do learn from the experience

The worst thing is that I did not check it. I did check for smoke from the exhaust but there isn't any smoke and when I test drive it everything is going well. I had a 1994 nissan pulsar and mechanically that nissan is better than the mazda I have now. I think mayb I deserved it. BTW, the car is $4300...

On that day:

1. Went to see the car
2. checking interior
3. checking exterior
4. looking at the engine and checking for smoke
5. test drive
6. he offer me 2 options - with RWC but pay 500 more
- without RWC pay 500 less
7. I agree to without RWC cause he said he get it checked by the mechanic and they said they only need 4 new tyres and thats it >> I actually believed them, I must be out of my mind cause I usually don't trust people that easy.
8. paid him
9. Car has a lot of problem >> mechanically
10. Looking for solution but none

Well this is the situation... : )

well to be honest if he said with RWC but 500 more to me that sounds genuine esp if he said the tyres need replacing cus if u have stock wheels thats about how much it would be for 4 tires+ballancing+allignment , because alot of ppl do sell cars like that. u might just have really bad luck and the sht hit the fan AFTER u bought it and now u need all these things changed. if something is about to let go most of the time its without warning... i mean obvious warnings. u can c the timing belt being stretched and having small cracks but hay our cam gears are covered in cast iron (or alloy whatever) and the engine mounts are easy to miss sometimes. as for oil, i have to run thick oil in my engine cus its old (ie 20w50) and project.r.racing had to run even thicker oil in his cus his engine had fubared rings, but this was b4 he refurbed it. and my oil gets dirty within a week after i change it, well not dirty but its black and not clear (not very black just not clear lol... i clearly cant explain) as for oil leaks our engines leak from the O-ring on the dizzy and the tappet cover cus the gasket gets old and fubared (these engines are like 15yr old as for brakes if they havent worn out like 90% (like 1mm left) it doesnt constitute a replacment for RWC wiper blades are liek $15. the boot and the window are broken? y did u pay so much for the auto with a broken boot?? honestly man if he told u he will sell it unregistered as is (ie without a RWC) then there is nothing u can do about it.
im jsut pointing out that there can allways be to parts to every story.
