Neither really. Im not sure exactly what the BP engine has in terms of tech, but the FP/FS have distributorless ignition, VICS, solid shim on buckets, has oil squirters, VTCS (wish they didnt though).

I believe the BP doesnt have oil squirters, im not sure about the other stuff. Its interesting to note that the F series engine despite these additions doesnt produce anymore power that i know of. FP produces 91kw.

BP has oil squirters.

FP is more fuel efficient due to it's newer style Bosch top feed injectors that atomize fuel/air better. (Series 3 BA/BH 323/Astinas have these style injectors also). And better spark delivery due to distributorless ignition.

BP = 92kW.

i dont think the BP has oil squirters
hmmm so despite all the newer ecu's, sensors and other bits and bops
there no power difference
i thought at least 10-15 kw over the old engine
cheers for the info

Nope. The F series engine that the BJ uses is kinda fail tbh. Its not a untapped power house thats for sure, requires a bit of work to get it anywhere. Tuning being the biggest gain, with a decent tune youd get about 95+ kw stock i guess. Id guess the max gain would be about 10hp.

AFAIK BP-ZE has oil squirters, didnt think the standard BP block did *shrugs*.

DOHC BP = 92kw
SOHC BP = 72kw...from memory.

so went to start the astina the other day and it wont start, so far have checked the coil, leads plugs all are firing the engine turns over so i think it may be a fuel problem. i "think" there is fuel in the tank (need to dig out the fuel gauge to look see) so my guess is somewhere between tank and efi. is there an easy way to find out? or is it just a matter of systematically pulling it apart and checking for blockages/leaks/damage?

Has anyone else had this issue before? If i warm the sticker up first will it come off the backing easier? I dont wanna stuff the sticker up!

the BP does have oil squirters.. BPD has upgraded ones over BPT (as per a thread i was reading on here yesterday, cant remember which one but) but BP from 94 onwards has them definately

so how is the extra power made in the DOHC BP over the SOHC
i remember higher compression, twin cams (obvisously), and headers
but i dont think it could make that big of a difference
are there different rods piston? lighter and stronger internals?
or is it just the ECU is tuned for more power?

cams are the biggest difference usualy (1 cam vs 2, 2 vs 4 etc by for i mean variable lift control)

^^ DOHC are simply more efficient with double the inlet/outlet valves = more performance ability
