Standard HU in 2001 SP20 - Manual/RDM

Recently bought a 2001 Mazda SP20 but did not get any books with it etc. I'm in love with it, but is there an option to have random over all of the discs or is it just random for disc one, and then change to disc 2? It doesn't display any differntly by pushing the rdm button twice or holding it for a while, so can i assume that it perhaps could be broken?

you know I have never ever used random on it..so can't say.

It will only play random on the disc currently in front of the laser head.
It has to unload and load another disc to access it and won't do that in random. Takes too long.
