Lantis transmission problems

Hi,

I have a 1993 Mazda Lantis with a KF-ZE, 2 litre motor (not the problem) it also has an automatic gearbox (the problem). When I put it into any gear (R P S L) i get a nasty crunching noise from the gearbox. It sometimes stalls when i pull up at lights or come to a stop like it is a manual and i have stopped without using the clutch. I think that something is floating around in the torque converter or the lockup clutch has a problem. Can anyone help me with this problem.

Thanks

Checked the fluid level?

could be as simple as that.

I'd suggest booking the car in at an auto transmission specialist for a service. Don't tell them any more than it's rough changing and let them look at it.

Specialist is the way to go.

Try fluid level before hand tho.

solved

I have found the problem. I took the gearbox out (an absolute mission) and found that the stator in the torque converter has disintegrated and bits have been floating around inside it.

Thanks for the help anyway
