Mazda 323 Front Speakers

I have recently bought and installed 6" MTX speakers for my door speakers and they have insane bass. the problem with this is they hit the door and makes it sound dodge.

Does anyone know a way i can correctly cut a hole in my door so the speakers stick out?

you need to get some spacers by the sounds of it...will push the speaker out a little bit more and should clear it from the door...

in the future, please list some more details on the car...

BG astina, BA astina (hatch or hardtop) or Bj astina...or what ever it is...

if you have 5x7" holes (BA and BJ i think) you'll need custom 6" spacers as i couldnt find any readily available for that. its not hard, some 7mm+ MDF is perfect

i really should scan mine and make up a template than can be printed out

yea i second what bourban and davoaust said... spacers would solve your problem....

you can buy this dense foam stuff from any car audio place.. its made to be a buffer between speakers and doors to stop vibrations.. you can cut it to size, and put it between the speaker and the door. it should push it out about 10mm.

i solved this problem by buying the 5x7" MTX speakers instead of the 6".

wait im confused what part of the door are they hitting??? cus the magnet doesnt move in a speaker so that should of cleared when installing .. ?

hmmmm yea now that i think about it...

hmmm maybe his problem isn't the spacing from the magnet to the door.. but the speaker from the grill.

easy fixed. remove the grill

the prob is that the magnet is prolly hitting the window mechanism..

assuming its a BA the holes arent quite big enough for a 6" speaker to fit. the edges of the hole hit the frame of the speaker. a spacer pushes them out far enough that they clear it (due to the fact they taper off)

yea that one makes sence, and if its not in properly it will rattle especially under all that base

Sorry i didn't make it real clear i was in a rush to get out to work.

Its a 93 BG astina. I have installed the speakers and made custom spacers the problem is they are hitting the door grill. I want to cut the holes out so the speakers sit out but im not sure how to measure it up right, or if there is a way to do it in which i wont cut too big a hole in the wrong position.

oh i did that b4 but not on a astina. put the door card on the door, get a light and look thru the grill to c hwere the speaker is, then mark it out n hack away. alternatively cut away from behing the grill to get more clearance. hope that helps

Well this is a shock to me! Ive got an SP 323 as well and put 6''JBL splits and had to do NO mods what so ever! to the woofer location just one extra screw hole and the speakers sit behind the grill, Flush, the tweeter on the other hand , hehehe, kinda proud of this one
sits just in front of door handle, also flush and sweet lookin!
