Well, I have a Protege but I figure that Im allowed to post in here too. Had a new exhaust installed this afternoon.

Soooooo much quieter than the old one. I actually had the radio off the whole way home, just listening to lack of noise and lack of drone. It just have to find all of the interior rattles that I can now hear and then fix them.

Has a nice growl in low revs and no pinging or raspiness up in the higher revs. Happy camper

Brought home my shiny new Astina SP today

What I had: noble green 1993 Astina SOHC series 2 with 130kms on the clock
  • stock everything except the badge, which is the little mazda jdm red triangle
  • crack in the front bumper
  • tinting peeling on the rear windshield
  • scratches on bonnet and sides from when some bastard keyed it
  • paint chipped on the roof, faded on the back
  • squeaky thrust-bearing
What I have now: blue-grey 1990 Astina SP series 1 with 170kms on the clock
  • 16" black mag wheels
  • 2" cat-back exhaust + extractors, makes a really nice exhaust note
  • 'Personal' racing-style steering wheel (wasn't fussed about this, just a bonus
  • CAI with k&n pod filter
  • original paint still in excellent condition
  • much smaller ding in the paint on the front bumper (lol!)
  • missing driver's side a-pillar (organised to purchase a replacement from womble) $50
  • cracked windshield, will replace in the next week $242
  • tinting peeling on the rear windshield
I did love my sohc, but I couldn't pass up the chance to upgrade. The SP was listed at $3700, I negotiated down to $3350 which adds up to about $3700 with the cracked windshield, tinting and a-pillar fixed. Needs a polish and wax, and maybe shampoo for the interior. I might also tighten the clutch pedal a bit, and get my dad to machine some brass bushes for the linkage, which is what I have on the sohc. Now I've just got to organise to sell the sohc before my next uni fees are due.

I'll take some photos of both after my uni assessments finish on Monday. Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase.

installed a 7" dash screen, dvd player, 12" sony sub & box, bigger amp and test fitted automagic window closer.

a warning to anyone thinking of getting an automatic window closer unit from jaycar, you will need pretty good electrical knowledge, they are a ***** to install with only the wiring diagram they give you. on the upside it closes all 4 windows when you turn off the ignition and lock the car.

ok so 2nite (just then) instead of studiing 4 my exam thats 2moro i decided to put in the HIDs that i bought of ebay. what can i say 5 min with the dremmel(for cutting a hole for the wires in the cap), the very handy hole with thread that was located in the exact spot where i wanted the ballasts to go, a little patience and 15 minutes and they r in the car, whoooot they look great, but i think that the passanger side one isnt sitting right, cus its aiming a little too high, but thats 4 tomorow oh ye i was meaning to ask, davo when is the next cruise?? sometimes over the holidays XD

i hope so, we need a good cruise

the screen cost me $150 (half price ) from jaycar, dvd player is one i had sitting at home (portable one) so its under my seat and i'm living with the cd player HU until i feel like shelling out $300 for a dvd HU. amp i had, can't remember what it cost, sub and box from wow was discounted from $300 to $150, i confused the dude and got it for $93

the automatic window closer was $45 with the sceen (form $50). to use it you pretty much have to cut a lot of wires and i'm not prepared to do that. its just messy in the future. i'm gonna try to make an adaptor loom, if i succeed i maybe able to make more (so you can get them and just plug and play)
