what sort of dB is your stereo pulling?

i saw the thread in the performance section about what power figures peoples cars are getting, so i thought id start one about stereos. so if you've measured your stereo, what did u get and what were you running?

ill start it off...

today i measured mine and i got 125.1dB. im pretty happy coz ive only spent a little over $1000 on it.

it consists of....
- a sony h/u with direct ipod control
-120w jbl 5x7 in the front with crossovers and tweeters mounted at the top of the doors
-180w Sony 6 inch speakers in the back doors
-300w Sony 6x9 in a home made parcel shelf (blown and need replacing asap)
-2x 12inch 750w JVC subs run by a Kenwood 1000w 2ch amp
-2x Boss Audio 1000w 4ch amps running the all the speakers in the car (2 spare channels on one of them)

**** if you got 125db with that i wonder what mine would pull.

- Pioneer HD
- 6" Jaycar Splits w/ cross overs 50wrms (off amp)
- 6" Pionner speakers 60wrms (off amp)
- 4channel Pionner amp putting out 60wrms/channel
- 4" Boss Audio speakers (off HD) rated as 75wrms but i know that's BS, probably more like 20/25wrms.
- 12" Alpine Type R sub 500wrms in ported box
- 1000w Alpine V-Power monoblock putting out 600wrms @ 2Ohm
- Sony 4awg wiring kit

Cost me about $1500 all up, note the sub and amp were $399rrp each so i didn't do too bad
Installation was done by my mates.

My setup: Mainly for SQ, i'd rather a nice crisp sound over total bass, but I can have both if need be

JL Audio 120w 5x7" 2-way front speakers
Pioneer 160w 6" 2-way speakers
Pioneer DEH30MP 50Wx4 cd/mp3 player
Aux Jack for Ipod/phone Connection12"
125wrms Kicker Sub in ported box
Pioneer 4x75wrms 4ch Amp
Pinoeer H/U remote
4guage Sony 4ch amp kit

This Stereo would be good for about 125-130db, so enough to keep my ears intact Its pretty decent for a stereo on a budget, spent all up $900 including wiring

Cheers
Marc

most stereos standard come out at about 70-80dB...some are upto 90...its quiet easy to get over 100...

i ended up spending about $2000 on the one in my astina...i wanted to get it tested but never got around to doing it...i blew several subs...i prob would of hit the 120mark easily...

What you have here would be good for 128DB to 136 DB as the pioneer you use depending on Box type/stile/size I have tested in comps and gotten so many readings there is no set DB
GOOD LUCK

I know what these subs and Amps can do and you should get more than that at least 135 DB .
You need your system Tuned properly
If You are at the easter nats I will be there and if you enter the stereo comp come see me and I will show you how to get more DB with out damaging your system
