Haighie I went into Frankies and I am liking the Soundstream and Pioneer stuff. Saw a nice Pioneer HU and Soundstream speakers/amp/sub etc.
I think I will probably go for a 12" sub now as I do listen to DnB, dubstep & electro etc but mostly rap and RnB (dont listen to metal/hardcore) and after hearing your suggestions it would be better for me to go for the 12" so it can keep up. If I was to go for twin 12" would it just add a lot more bass? Edit: Haighie I'm looking at spending round $1500-2000 for the whole system Last edited by Lepsche323; 15-09-2012 at 09:15 PM. |

H.U, speakers amp wiring kit and then add the second sub later(if you want) having a secind sub will increase bass but by about haft, good choice on going with the 12" aswell, it's the best all rounder, with DnB having quick beats that a 15" wouldn't keep up with and long beats a 10" wouldn't hold, biggest tip i could suggest is make sure you have enough power to the sub, more is better then less, well i gess that goes for everything but for that music were the sub is the main key, you need it to have a good power supply,

yeah 2x12" is overkill. especially with high-end gear.
personally, upon doing 4+ hours reading I've got a few different ideas in my head... the guys over @ DIYMA forum recon the new alpine type-R 8"'s pump super hard in a vented enclosure. probably not what you're after but food for thought. (i.e using 2x 8" in a super small vented enclosure) anyway if you spend your time looking for bargains, esp on second hand amps and spend maybe $300 on dynamat and you can do your boot and doors.

Quick question to Haighie and others with 6" front splits, did you buy an adapter for them, or did you make your own?

Didnt need an adapter, speakers just screwed in.
You will need an adapter for rears. (Or some self taping screws )

You will need an adaptor for the front speakers, you won't need an adaptor for the rear speakers, but make sure you put either dynamat or like rubber on either side of the adaptor so it's sealed and there's no aur escape

Cheers guys, already got an adapter from local sound shop. Wiring + Speakers + amps + H.U are in just need to get some 8 gauge and banana plugs to connect sub and wait for H.U bracket to come in and finish it all up. (Had my uncle to install it, and me and dad helped)
