Slow Down and Survive

At some point we have all done something silly, some of us have been lucky. But either way saw this thread on Mazdas247 and just thought id post it as a reminder. Doesn't mean you have to drive like a nanny, but just important to remember that if you do want to go out, this is the sort of risks you/we take when doing so.

Quote:
On Dec 6th 2005 We lost a member of the mazda community,
Shannon A. Seabolt known on here as 1338.

I first met Shannon at one of our local meets that we have, We met at the Dave and Busters in Marietta GA. Thats were I met most of the Ga guys.

In the 2 years or so that i knew Shannon he became one of my best friends, it was like we were brothers. We had so much in common not just the love for cars.

We talked pretty much everyday, durring work on out nextels, and then on AIM when we were at home.

We hung out pretty often, either just chilling at his place , going to a concert down town, or doing a mountain drive.

I can remember all the good times that we had together, I will never forget him, he will be in my thoughts and my heart for the rest of my life.

-Ron

He must've been absolutely flying to wrap the car like that, very sad though.

I remember seeing this years ago, the banner is still floating round on Mazdas247. Still gives me a chill seeing the car folded like that..

Just read every second page or so. It really hit hard. I pray that I don't take my anger out on the streets and remember what happens when you do leave this eath, the people who love and care about you still have to deal with it. thanks for sharing.

He wasn't wearing a seat belt when the accident happened not that it would have mattered much tbh.

Yeah driving angry isn't the best, I can vouch for that

Well I have to say SAD. Do remember it.

Seen them in real life - even where they split into two. I must admit you don't want that.

But The seat belt bit is still a good point.
But the Sience of it all says that if you hit a Solid Object at above 80km/h - yes 80. Like parked truck - brick wall. Your chance of survival goes down to like 1 in 100. Due to injurys sustained from the sudden stop.

Oh and for those who don't think it will happen to them. I've got over all 12 screws of stainless in me. Half of which I never thought would happen. My doing or not.

It looks like he was cornering around a right-hander hard and fast. Both LHS tyres are deflated, so it may have been the cause of the car "letting go" :-(
