2002 AStina bjii shades 3 cylinder

Been having a problem with my car for awhile, it goes great and all when you start up the car and go for a bit, but then something happens and the car starts losing power, the max speed I can go is 60-70km/h, I stop on the side of the road and the car/revs is just jumping up and down from nearly 0 to above 1, all I've been doing is turning the engine off and back on in like a 5 minute wait to make it go back to normal, its annoying as hell stopping half way though your drive so I was wandering if any1 has ever had this kind if problem before. Suggestions given to me by my bro where either sparkplugs, coils or my distrubitor, thanks guys.

As Ryan has said, sounds like coilpacks. Another thing to check would be the black intake tube going from the throttle body to the MAF, as this also cracks due to age.
