2013 SSS Pulsar to be Turbo

Looks like Nissan is bringing back the SSS and it will be a Nismo developed turbo powered Pulsar. Lets hope they make it more exciting than the base model looks in the photo!

Quote:
The return of the Nissan Pulsar small car to the Australian market will be capped off by a turbocharged SSS hot hatch.

The existence of the much-rumoured performance model was confirmed to motoring.com.au by Nissan global product planning boss Andy Palmer at last week’s local launch of the Infiniti luxury brand.

“There will be a hot hatch,” Mr Palmer said.

The bad news for Nissan sports enthusiasts is they’ll have to wait into 2013 for the SSS to arrive, some time after the Pulsar sedan and hatch begin their roll-out post the Sydney motor show in October. Mr Palmer also confirmed the car would be tuned by Nissan’s high performance arm Nismo, with an emphasis on ride and handling rather than outright power from the boosted engine.

“Of course there is going to be a notch-up in performance, but it’s more about ride and handling,” he confirmed

Backing that up is Mr Palmer’s admission that the car won’t require a limited slip differential to handle its power output.

“Generally speaking, where we are trying to take Nismo is one of more outright ride and handling than hot-hot performance,” Mr Palmer explained. “The basis of that is most people don’t get anywhere near the limits of their motor car performance as it is, so if you can make the sports more accessible, have better ride and handling, that’s more where Nismo is going.

The Pulsar badge was controversially killed off by Nissan when it launched the underwhelming Tiida small car in 2005. But the SSS badge disappeared in 2000 with the replacement of the N15 Pulsar generation. The Pulsar badge still has 70 per cent name recognition in Australia, and the car is seen as a vital plank in Nissan’s ambition to become the biggest selling importer brand here.

Yeah I think the amount of hot hatches, and performance cars such as the 86, we have at the moment is great. Happy to see the SSS along side them next year!

Some more details about the SSS.

Quote:
Nissan has also confirmed the Pulsar hatch range, which will follow the sedan to market by about 100 days, will be topped by a hot hatch (badged 'SSS') powered by a direct injection turbo-petrol 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that will pump out 140kW and 240Nm. The SSS will star on Nissan’s stand alongside the Pulsar sedan at the Sydney motor show, which kicks off later this week at Darling Harbour.

Well, it looks better than the last few Pulsars/Tiidas.

But that's like saying that the bucket of smashed crabs over here is better than the bucket of smashed crabs over there.

Well just remmeber since about 1995, All car companies are cost cutting.

All cars are now made by a cost cutting commities.
1st rule, Must fit scope of plan - EG SUV - Mini SUV - small compact -station wagon etc.
2nd rule Areo dynamics for economy
3rd rule - what and who we compete with. EG - we need it to have BIG BUM so we can have safety crush area that still can carry 2 illigal korean sex workers in.
4th rule - Where can we cost cut. Lets take the previous higher spec mid sized cars buttons or lets take our luxury division parts and put them on the cheaper car now it's superceded just save 10million in re-tooling.

Oh and don't forget silly rules like Pedestrian safety ? who walks on roads - poor people - poor people can't buy new cars - so who cares if you wipe them out. (yeah yeah cry over these remarks )

Plus make them green use recycled plastic but we can't make it cheaper in anything but black and it will always look like elphant scrotum.

So in the end 90% of all cars LOOK the same offer the same **** and stuff.

You will never ever EVER -EVER - see a Rx7 - low nose FD type again on Mass production car. They will all have fat fronts - mirrors desgiend to cut noise or LArge Ears so you can actually see aroudn the cars massive Hips because they added 30mm of door but not interior space for side impact protection and putting in doors and 8inch subwoofers.

I'm sure As nissan is now run from Europe, it will mimic even more of it's style.
They havne't gone on edge you can see M3 - Rolla and even a bit of Golf in it. But the glass areas looks so French Citreon and Peuqeot.

I can see a bit of Lexus in the first shot and Subaru Liberty in the last (headlights). And that exhaust is terrible and cheap looking!

Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew.......

Over here in the states Toyota and Subaru have another joint car.. Think the Toyota one was called the matrix. Looks like a slightly larger corolla crossed with the imprezza.

This thing looks like nissans joke where one guy said "wonder what it would look like if Toyota and Subaru both designed another car together... But this time... Smaller then the matrix"

Really not liking any of the latest car styling... Waiting for the next wave of designs... Hopefully they are better looking :/

Well you'll be waiting 5-7 years. As the current styling is only new.

Agree! I think the new Mazda 6 is nice, but most aesthetically pleasing cars are coming from Korea at the moment as project r said. Hopefully the SSS is amazing to drive, might make up for the looks. Also Nissan have said that a Nismo version will be coming out, might get more aggressive looks (and power increase).

Yeah over here in the states... The latest model tiburon... Wow!
And the genesis are probably the best looking cars in the cheaper end of the market. Will be nice to see them in aus!
