what i meant was if the lights popup when they are turned on, that means that the motor is trigered either by the stork directly or my a relay down the track, find the wire from the stork that controls the motors and splice it from a 12V before the stork with a button switch, jsut means less wiring and that way the lights dont have to be on to go up partially

next questions
do the lights pop up now when the headlights turn on or do they have to be poped up through the new switch?
when the lights are up partialy are they on?
when the fuze is not conected the lights still go on but not up right?

u can allways kill 2 birds with one stone, just have to line it up carefully
lol didnt know anything bout the lazy eyes till i did em(so dont know of any easy way of doin em untill i saw the diagramm) an if i did i would've did it that way maybe.

the switch kills the power to make them pop up or down,
u turn the toggle switch to on and they work as normal
u turn the toggle switch to off and they dont pop up
both of which the lights turn on as normal its just the pop ups thats differant,
so u toggle it on and off to the hight u want em to be

now for the fuse n male connecters in the 3rd pic that looks budget as!!so i just got a rubber fuse holder from autobarn (more professional look..lol)

have fun all!!
my bg has a switch inside that pops up the headlights once you pop them up remove the switch (its a pushbutton, i believe its a momentary on which flips a relay. that what i was told at least) the head lights wont go down again even if you turn the lights on/off

If you reduce the radius of the arm that drives the light up/down then you will reduce the total movement of the light nacelle. If you then lengthen the rod between the motor and the light by the same amount then the lights will raise to the same height and never go lower than the sleepy position.

Meh, too hard for a gen Y

another alternative... a momentary switch which cuts the power to the motor once the lights hit a certain point on the downside perhaps?

Theres Arms Connecting The Motor To The Housing Just Take The Arm Off(their Ball Joints So No Screws Or Bolts)cut It Short Then Put It Back In.
I Got A Housing For It So I Know What Im Looking At But If U Want Pics Of The Housing For The Pop-ups Just Let Me Know N I'll Put Some Up

i used thick speaker wire and a fuse holder which you can buy from any auto store, so all you need is about 2-3m dual core wire, switch and either a fuse holder or 2 female spade terminals, its real easy to do

Smile lazy eye

Hay guy's I kno that it's about a year ago since this thread was used but I thought I'd add 2cents worth.

I did the lazy eye on my BG astina about 4years ago but they only worked (tipped height) when the light were OFF, as soon as they turned on the light would pop up and stay up until I flicked a switch.

I could however choose the light tip height by using the light (pop up switch) on the dash.

It was a fairly easy fix if I remember correctly. Just a few steps, 1 two way switch and some 2core wire. + any tools that you would use to remove your cluster surround, and the light (pop up switch). Oh and perhaps a really fine flat blade screw driver. Crimp plugs or solder also!

Step 1. Remove the pop up switch from the dash surround
Step 2. Open up the switch box and remove a piece of plastic about the size of 5mm square, 2mm thick. This is the retainer that allows the switch to stop and hold position 'A' when depressed and releases after 2nd press. If u know how a clicky pen works it does the same thing by holding the pen out and then returns it on second press.

NOW, that the current passes thru this switch when pressed, ie NO position 'A' anymore u need to add the 2way switch in line.

Put the switch back together and return dask back to normal.

Step 3. I cant remember which wires we connected the 2way switch (position 1) to but it allows to bypass pop up switch, therefore the switch when pressed will pop lights up and down or when lights are turned ON, the lights pop up and stay up till the lights are turned off (Normal Use)
When the 2way switch is in the other position the lights will pop up and STAY up when truned on and OFF. You must flick the 2way switch to the other position (normal use). BUT when the 2way switch is in position 2, tap the dash pop up switch quickly and select the height you would like the lights.

you need a small flat blade and a set of pointy nose to remove the small black rectangle that is located below the circle. This will make the switch a push button and not lock in or out.
you us the blade to life the wire and the pointy's to grab and remove the black rectange.

Sorry, I can't get the pics working!

Here's the hard way

With a microcontroller, basic circuitry and some programming...

In 'Normal' mode.. its business as usual. All pop-up works as it should be.
Until you press either 'Sleepy button' or 'Left Wink' or 'Right Wink'.
If the pop-up is down.. wink means either left or right goes up. As long as you press the button it will stay up, when you release the button.. it goes back down. If the pop-up is up (lights on or whatever), then wink means it goes down –either left or right depends on which button you press.
Pressing the sleepy button will close the pop-up then goes to a pre-determined sleepy angle. Not a really good button to press when you are driving at night, but looks pretty cool at day.
In this 'Sleepy' mode.. the wink button will open the pop-up, then goes back to sleepy.

Since its using a microcontroller, there are plenty of room for improvement, sensors and expansion.
Ideas, anyone?
