Now, i tried to get some stuff done over the weekend:

After drifing around with a farting exhaust since the engine swap, i got hold of an OEM pre silencer. Not exactly cheap but worth it, considering quality and fitment of aftermarket units.
It's really well made (what else would one expect) and finally the exhaust tips are a bit more recessed AND no farting

Furthermore i wanted to refill the aircon - since it was pressureless for about a year i thought it might be a good idea to get a new drier cartridge. OEM was quoted at 360€ (seriously), aftermarket was 15€ - aftermarket it is. Needless to say, it didnt fit. Luckily i sourced an OEM one off ebay für 20€, just have to wait for delivery.

Also tried out 10mm spacers at the rear for le stance (now ET27 - perfect in my eyes)

Since the front bumper was off, i also took the opportunity to fit the sensor for the washer tank:

Works like a charm

There's a lot more to do, but baby steps are in order since i dont have too much time to spare and the other cars demand attention as well...

Last week, i got a replacement for my "corroded" passenger side door switch panel:

I also fitted the new OEM air con dryer and had the system flushed and refilled.

On friday i put it to the test on a 400km Autobahn trip on a hot summer day - happy to report that i have air con again

Revisited my home town and took some snaps:

Lastly, i'd like to leave a riddle.
Who can tell me what this does?

Looks great

The foam thing sits inside the water washer bottle and tell you when it's full

I would have expected nothing less of you

Recently i exchanged my 6-channel Emphaser EA450-250 with a more powerful 4-channel EA4150XT and removed the rear speakers.

Due to the better sound from the remaining speakers i really dont miss the rearfill

Since the dimensions of the OZ wheels - 7x17 ET37 - just didnt fill the arches, i added some spacers:

Which is when i discovered a leaking rear brake cylinder - again! I already exchanged that same cylinder 10 years ago!

Anyways, the car now stands like this:

Wow, three years since the last update...phew. Almost forgot about this.
Due to EU data protection laws, i reanimated my old blog and shifted project worklogs over there.
In case anyone's still interested, i'll post the links here as well.

The car still lives and after 3 unfortunate years of daily / winter duty, I now got the means and motivation to make it nice again.
It started last month when my wife and I went on a trip for our anniversary with it and initiated by a cracked radiator, I've since taken the engine bay apart and started cleaning, painting and replacing stuff.

Note the new plates which indicate: no more winter duty. Ever again...
Initial start:

And last update:
https://driving-culture.blogspot.com...oling-and.html

Since i only have time to work on the car for an our every other evening, I'm taking it slowly. I also have other cars to take care of so expect no big leaps here...more like slow and steady droplets...

Cheers, I'm not letting go

In the meantime, this happend:

https://driving-culture.blogspot.com...th-status.html

Have been experiencing some issues with the engine. Feels like it's not getting enough fuel now so I ordered a set of NB2 injectors and will swap them over. Also will change the distributor due to misfiring issues.

Soo, it's done! Finally finished the rear suspension assembly, bled the brakes and took her for a test drive. Happy to report, all is well, the brake engages as it is supposed to which was not the case in the last few years. Inspires much more confidence now...

I still have to do the front wishbones and then swap all the brakes again for the bigger setup (but certainly not this year). Currently the car gets an alignment so that i can enjoy her a bit more until autumn
