Group Buy - Mazdaspeed Oil Cap

Interested in one? click on page 3

Hi all,
Been wanting the jazz up the astina a little & been interested in a oil cap
for ages but the $150 for a blitz or Greddy cap has put me off. Jimbo
got one of these and it looks good and the price is def in the right area.
Only downside is the postage so I wanted to know if anybody was
interested in a group buy to try and cut postal costs down. The cap
itself is only $10US. Postage for 1 is up to $22US. They can also be
bought local for $55AUS.

Let me know your thoughts.

Dogo 27-04-2004 02:04 PM

Rupewrecht 27-04-2004 02:25 PM

I'm trying a supplier i know in japan that got me a secong HKS cam gear for a ridiculously cheap price compared to the one i bought in australia...

will grab one on the car this sat.

Riceboy 27-04-2004 05:24 PM

i dont think these are genuine mazdaspeed oil caps...

mrpayner 27-04-2004 05:37 PM

I'll have one thanks Mal.. Is the finished product silver like the image that you posted, or more like the polished/chrome article that Jim posted?

We're getting some numbers now, did you want to update your initial post with the ppl interested with a list?

Regards
Adam

BigMal 27-04-2004 05:59 PM

Adam,
Its not polished chrome its silver but is quite shiny. These items are on ebay.com
I dont think they are genuine but for a price of around $30US I cant find a
comparable product. If Dan can find some cheap backdoor products I would
be in, would love a 2nd hand hks anything :)
I just was really after a show of hands before I emailed some of the people on
ebay to see how much for a combined postage price.

Mal..

No worries.. I've been looking for a new cap too but haven't been overly keen on the ones that i've seen.. I like this one though.. simple yet effective. I'm going to have to get my cover cleaned up now! ;)

Adam

BigMal 27-04-2004 06:41 PM

Totally Adam
I have polished my rocker and it looks great. It is definitely something that changes
the look of the whole engine bay. I will be selling mine soon as I want to do something
different but its a BG rocker not a BA so doesn't help you. Put Jimbo's cap on for
a trial fit and it goes real well with the polished cover.

Regards

Mal

Cosmo Dude 27-04-2004 08:04 PM

I'm interested, pencil me in.
I've been thinking about some changes and the polished alloy 710 cap would play well against the strut brace and the potential mods.

You would think I had cleaned it the day before  , it looks nice in the flesh but that photo makes it look even better. Good pic Adam.

You can just see the strut brace in the top left, the cap would match it nicely. The replacement leads (when I get around to it) may need to be black, I don't think anything else would suit.

mrpayner 03-05-2004 06:19 PM

Hey Mal..

Have you heard anything as yet??

Cheers
Adam

BigMal 04-05-2004 01:12 PM

Yes I have the postage from the US for 6 is $80US plus the $60US for the caps
which makes $140US = $200AUS or $34 each. Thats not allowing for any
duty/gst/insurance etc etc. If people are still interested we can do something,
those that have bought OS before whats the cheapest way the buy, I used
western Union once and it was heaps expensive, CCard is not to bad but is
there better ???

Mal

Toyboy 04-05-2004 01:36 PM

Im still interested

Ouch that seems a lot for postage. Is that one lot of postage to you and then you distribute them or is that the seller posting them individually?

shipping for my Projector headlights was only $45USD insured (and that was a large box), so i reckon you're getting overcharged

You might try paying with Paypal. If he's an Ebay seller he should have no problem with that as it's pretty secure, and easy to use

BigMal 04-05-2004 05:36 PM

There's 2 main guys selling these on Ebay, Aimspot2000 and a Evotector ??
or something similar. It was the Evo guy that quoted $80. I am still waiting
response from the Aimspot2000. Will advise. Feel free to do a search and
if you can find a better deal please do, no money is going into my pocket on
this I am only trying to get cheaper than the $32US for a single cap & postage.

Rupewrecht 04-05-2004 06:01 PM

fairy nuf. i emailed a few peoples and will see what happens :)

BigMal 04-05-2004 06:52 PM

You can keep all the fairies to yourself, you Bear !!!

Nate 04-05-2004 07:16 PM

i have sold heaps of stuff on ebay and bought a lot from the states .... simply the yanks are in love with paypal. it will cost you us$5 for the transfer which is jack all at the moment anyway and it should go thru straight away. as for postage $80 is far over the top. get him to tell you the weight of a cap and you can work it out yourself.

BigMal 04-05-2004 09:48 PM

Sweet now just got to find someone who sells the caps and also does cheap
postage :)

MrShadow 05-05-2004 12:10 PM

G'Day,
If it's not going to stuff things up, I'd be interested. Sorry I'm a bit late off the mark, but I've been snowed under with uni and work. If it's going to make it more difficult/put the price up, feel free to tell me to get stuffed!

Cheers
Shady

Rupewrecht 05-05-2004 01:08 PM

well i've had a quote for 10 caps and postage for $185USD from 'proexhaust'

am just confirming that thats not just postage as he wasn't very literate! lol

and shady thats fine!

Rupewrecht 05-05-2004 01:50 PM

ok, yep thats for 10 including postage

so thats 18.50USD each which is about $26 inc postage. so thats not too bad.

hows that?

we have seven people - anyone else?

Rupewrecht 05-05-2004 02:03 PM

LOL i just got another quote from Aimspot2000 saying that postage was $153 - not including item price!

BigMal 05-05-2004 03:50 PM

Bastard how come he replied straight to you. I had to email him a second time.
The $26 sounds great. If we dont get another 3 I will take a second sure someone
will want one later on or flog them off to the Sydney Mazda guys.

MrShadow 05-05-2004 04:49 PM

These fit the 3? If so, and we don't have the numbers, father's day is coming up...

Rupewrecht 05-05-2004 05:15 PM

i'd be surprised if they didnt. check your HT one against the 3 one :)

BigMal 05-05-2004 06:37 PM

It says Mazda 3, 323 when you look at the cap on ebay so sure it would.

Cosmo Dude 05-05-2004 07:06 PM

When I bought a oil cap for the BA from Mazda the part number reffered to the BG. It also fits the series II Rx-7 12A and series IV 13B turbo, I'm sure the thread is common to most engines.

cgunther 05-05-2004 09:19 PM

Count me in for a cap.
Thanks
(Sorry so late...)

coolsp 05-05-2004 10:11 PM

ive got one if anyone wants to buy it. only problem is i put the logo sticker on before i put it on the car so the mazdaspeed logo is upside down. but depending on your car it may sit right way up. any offers, was on car for a couple of months until i updated to sp20 cap.
