It didn't feel like a traditional Forza. But that's probably because of the free-roam aspect, and the fact that on the street courses there are shortcuts etc. If you have the braking only line on (which I do on new tracks) it directs you away from shortcuts to follow the regular course. So if you aren't quick enough, the AI will take the shortcuts and leave you in two minds and end up spinning out or crashing into something.
