Thats mazdas quote, and its all new parts... just went and checked out the car myself, the butterfly flap is like in a million pieces sitting on top of the cat... The head has no damage, just has some pitting which will come out with a shave. The No. 4 bore tho will need a light bore. the floor foreman is gonna chase around to see if he can find some of these butterfly flaps cause there is anything wrong with the manifold itself!
The problem with teh sp20's that did get the recall was that the butterfly screws came loose, letting the flaps loose & subsequently digging into the alloy manifold, thus why they replaced the whole manifold in those effected cars, now mine hasnt got any indication of it wearing but there is still a bit of play in both the No. 1 & 3 butterflies...
lol its funny how a $1 peice of metal can do $3000 worth of damage
