remote central locking

Hi, want to convert my ba to keyless entry - but i want to put the keyless reciever behind the door panel and wire it to an added remote lock motor in the driver's door.
My question is - does the door have a permanent 12v to power the remote commander unit so i dont have to run wires from the driver's door
OR if this is not possible -
do u just fit another lock motor to the driver's door, wire this thru the driver's lock switch and then wire the remote commander into the central locking relay in the passenger well?
I'm trying to avoid having to run wires to the driver's door.

Better to put the reciever in the passengers kick panel. The power and relays are in there, nice and easy.

ah but then you need to run wires into the drivers door for the new motor anyway

I found it easiest to wire the reciever up under the dash, then running 2 wires into the drivers door to trigger the motor. triggering that motor causes all the doors to unlock through the existing central locking

Mmmmm - i think the points been missed! - i dont want to run wires to the driver's door.
I want to know if there is a 12V source in the door so i can fit everything behind the panel - and use the remote controller to operate the "new" driver's door motor which in turn will operate the other door locks.

What makes you think the wires are not there already?

Sorry, that was ment for DavoAust.
Realisticly though the connections you want and need are in the passengers side kick pannel and they are negative switching.

I could open my drivers door and check, and often I would, but really... this time it's just too hard. CBF

depending on if you have electric mirrors and/or windows...and if they are 12v or not if not you will need to run wires. my alarm and remote locking i installed had a circuit that had a 0.5 sec pulse to hook up to locking motors ect and using a spare motor installed that in the drivers door and wired it to the pulse. at this point if you dont have the 12v there all ready it wont matter where you stick the reciever. mine worked fine until i filled the siren/receiver with water (dont ask)

Can people post what systems they use ?? I'm also interested in a remote CL system and would like to know what systems have found to be reliable.

looking at the wiring diagrams from 323f - there should be 12v at the driver's door lock switch - with an earth being applied to the switch whenever the key lock is used.

i feel it would b a much neater and tidy way to fit the remote commander behind the door trim ( there is space under the window switches) so i dont have to try and feed wires thru the door connector ( it aint easy!) and i dont want to drill holes thru the door to pass wires as most installers do.

also a thought, how about a timer circuit on the drivers switch so that a short push on the remote fob operates the drivers door only, and a longer push operates all four doors.
