FS: [NSW] BA 1.8L Microtech ECU
Hey,
Ive got a microtech LT-8 mapped for the 1.8L BA Astina. My plans have changed for where I want the car to end up, and the microtech is not so much a necessity now. They are listed on the microtech website for RRP AU$1095. It is brand new with loom and manual. Im looking for around the $700 mark but by all means make a reasonable offer. Postage included. Cheers, Scott Last edited by scott b; 25-09-2009 at 01:47 PM. Reason: price change |

Hmm this and that car will be most of the parts I need for a decent conversion. Is it currently installed on your car? And do you know if itll work with a BPT? Obviously will require a retune

It's never been installed in a car. And I would assume it would need re-mapping for BPT but that would need clarification.

If it does need a reflash, it used to cost $300 to send that back to Cameron at Microtech EFI, but I think it might be as much as $400 now (citation needed ). Just so he can flash the board on the Microtech with a seriel cable, all of 5 minutes work...

this is what i've heard as well. keeps me well away from the microtech's, apart from the fact they aren't really packed with features when compared to any other EMS.

Do you know how much of an improvement this is over stock? Power increase?

To be honest I wouldn't have a clue. Being this my first car and have never done anything to do with ecu changes. Sorry. Any one else able to give an estimate??

Well, different aftermarket ECUs are suited to different cars. Yes, Microtechs dont have some of the features that other units might have - e.g. onboard electronic boost control. Its going to come down to how much you want to spend, features, how easy it is to tune (read $$$'s to tune) and possibly even the number of people/shops that can tune them (you might be able to shop around then).
In terms of power, you should see a nice improvement in kW's across the power band. This should be an absolute increase in kW's too - so maybe 5 kW across the board (this is an estimate). While this is a small percentage at redline, it perks up the mid-range nicely. |

It's for a BP18 engine so I'm not too sure. I would assume so. Anyone able to confirm this?

hmm thats pretty tempting. it'd have to be tuned to suit other mods though. seeing as i'm staying N/A the lack of boost control isn't a concern
scott has this got a plug and play loom for the BA?

No sadly no plug n play loom and I had a quick look when I first got it and wasn't able to find one. It hasn't been tuned as it hasn't ever been installed.

QLDers: ROB80E might still do an install, and make it so it's quickly swappable back to stock too. Otherwise, go see Archie at Mazfix!
