Air Flow
After the Air filter there is a squarish black box, what is it ? , and can I remove it to make more space for the pod filter ? from the box the pipe runs to the throtle body.
not sure how to put a pic up here otherwise I would have to help understand |

that would be the mass air flow (MAF) sensor that is connected to the ecu... you can't remove it... it tells the engine control unit (ECU) how much air is going into the engine and therefore how much fuel to inject... (slightly important)
the pod goes after the sensor... i wouldn't reccomend having your pod there anyways... you're only gonna end up sucking in hot air because the engine is hot... you're better off with a k&n panel filter direct replacement in this case... either that or run your intake pipe down to just behind the grill where your foglights would go and sit your pod there for good cold air induction... if you do the latter make sure you leave all the plastic under guards on... otherwise your engine may be fillled with water and you'll be up for a new one not cool Last edited by FLiP; 16-07-2007 at 03:17 PM. |

you could also mean the resonator box, it helps to solve noise problems (air intake) have a look at this for a pod design

yea thanks, I do mean the resonator box, was thinking of removing it, what does the lil black pipe from underneath the engine to the resonator box do ? Was thinking of removing the resonator box, and moving the lil black pipe that comes from underneath the engine to where the pipe from the manifold goes into the main pipe.
Have removed the short pipe from the manifold to the air pipe and replaced with a filter. So what do you think of my idea above, doable or not ? |

well i have had a look and thought that it might be better to leave it until i do my turbo conversion and convert the piping to silicone and steel piping so yeah it does need to be there it is a breather

if you remove the black pipe going to the resinator box you will prob not be able to get it to idle learnt from experience...

yeah we all know what you mean but like i said it aint doin any harm unless you convert to BPT and have silicon or steel tubing and even then i think it would have to be plumbed in...;l
