Seat angle
May be a bit of a stupid question but does anybody know the angle the rear seat makes with the boot floor in a 2001 mazda 323 astina?
I'm trying to design a sub box but I don't have anything to measure the angle with. The program I'm using to help me design my box will print out an angle template for me to check my cuts with so I just need the actual angle! Anyone out there built a box for a the BJII mazda astina and can give me a hand here? |

I'll dig up the specs for my box and send them to you.... You should be able to work out the angle from that.... Might take me a day or 2 as I'm in the middle of moving atm....
This will give you an idea as to the fit: http://www.astinagt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6189

I saw that thread, looks like a sweet install. My box is only 37.4 litres (sealed) so not quite as big as yours. I made some measurements and found a website to calculate the angle for me. I can't for the life of me remember my yr 12 trig nor how to use my calculator properly. anyway i worked it out to be 67.3 degrees. I hope thats what you got as well |

Here are the dimensions for my box. You can work out the angle out using sin cos tan.
I worked it out to be 69.5 degrees. which is close enough to what you got. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14..._sketch_11.jpg you can have a look at my install here http://www.astinagt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5405 |

And I had already gone and marked out all the cuts i wanted to make onto the MDF. Oh well back to the ol' drawing board I've always wanted to say that |

Sorry about the time, I've been held up whilst moving house... getting a bit hard to find the plans. But it turns out the angle on mine is 68 degrees. But mine is about 1 - 1.5 out, so the top is set back a fraction from the perfect angle. It's also hard to tell as my box sits on a new false floor and not the original so it could be contributing to that.
The best way would be to do what I did, get some cardboard and make a mock up side panel. you can cut it to the perfect shape for the angle and then work out the rest of the measurements with something like Bass Box Pro. Quote:
