Custom Lenses

Hi, i was thinking of making clear lenses for my bg indicators/parkers and i was thinking of using clear resin. how would i go about making a decent mold

could use polyurethane to make the shape,cover it in foil then just add resin and "bobs your uncle"

If you know a tool and die maker that would whip em up on a CNC mill for you, you'd be laughin'. Most molds are made from Alluminium. I am curious as to what resin you are considering using. I work in the plastics industry where we use a number of different ones.......PS, APET, CPET, HIPS. I may be able to get small quantities of this if you are interested.....but you would have to find and add UV stabilisers to it.....otherwise it will in time become brittle.

I was considering this, let me know how you go. if it's a group buy from a plastics mob i'd be in, depending on cost.

I was thinking of just pulling one apart then taking it to a plastic place and asking if they could make a clear one. then just stick it back on.

Nodd, i havnt looked into it that much just yet however which would be better for the job?

and shai thats not a bad idea to be honest, i dont think i thought of that

so fresh the only prob i see with that is the foil would need to perfect, no creases or lines ect
