BJII Intake Manifold - WTH is this?
I was doing some weekend maintenance and found this whilst I was cleaning the throttle body.
Am I supposed to have a giant hole there with nothing connected to it? This next photo isn't mine and not actually from a BJII but it seems to be the same hole I am talking about. |

That is you EGR port. There should be a solid metal pipe connecting that port to your exhaust manifold.

1.8 or 2.0? The second manifold isn't a BJII manifold its a 626.
If the former don't worry about, if the latter then yeah could be an issue. The port is used for EGR, see the two holes behind the port in your 2nd photo. In the FS theres a module attached that opens and closes allowing Exhaust gas to recirculate back into the intake, to lean the car out while at constant rpm. (i.e. highway driving). On a 1.8 there is a blanking plate that covers this as the 1.8 doesn't utilise EGR.

Thanks for the replies guys, I can't believe I bought the car without a pipe sitting there.
I've got an 03 1.8L Astina. I found the 626 manifold picture from google as my first photo isn't that clear. Is it alright that my EGR valve is still in there and connected? |

the 1.8 doesn't have EGR... a block off plate was fitted where the EGR valve goes
no worries
