I have 6x9s in the parcel shelf and i think they handle okay. I have 6" speakers in all 4 doors as well and have just bought 6" splits for the front and a new set of 6" for the back doors.

Well i have splits installed in the front but still running (Well, WERE running) the stock mazda speakers in the rear... I might just upgrade the 6inch, saves re-running wires...

I'd say if you're running a sub don't worry about 6x9s.

Next time you see my car, ask to have a listen to my ststem, I have 6.5" JL Audio ZR splits in the front and 6.5" VR splits in the back, as well as a 12" JL Audio sub, all powered by 2 JL Audio amps.
I think after hearing it you will be more than happy with it.
Also by using door speakers it means you can easily remove the parcel tray for more space.
PS dont be lazy, re wire the splits, they will sound better.

x2 definitely! Subs are the only real bass speakers. That's what there job is! Front & rear coaxial speakers are just that. Coaxial. Tweeter & mid range speakers. You only want low frequency waves emitted to the sub & mid-to-high frequency to the coaxials! Use a low-pass filter or crossovers for both amps. Most quality newer amps have built in crossovers so you just set frequencies.

Yep! This is the ultimate sound quality set up imo. This is how I did the ZX sound & how I am doing the Merc (same set up I mean). The Merc is kinda getting the thorough once over though. I am even wrapping the RCA leads in reflector insulation sheet as the Merc has heaps of electrics running everywhere.

There are ways to build sound systems & there is the proper way Alot of info to understand but always keep your RCA cables away from power & remote wires. RCA wires are merely signal wires that will transmit engine & accessory noise as sound waves

So today i got a fine for crossing a double line which was $180 and 3 demerit points. However, i was crossing into a driveway and they fined me within the property, i didn't think they could do this? Also they wrote my car as a SEDAN when CLEARLY it is a hatchback and also spelt my name wrong. I realise what i did wrong but seeing as how they got all my details wrong should i be doing something about this? Also, 3 demerit points? thats a bit steep isn't it?

Ouch
Hearing all these stories about people being fined for such trivial things makes me feel glad I live in SA, here you never hear of anyone getting fines for stuff like that, seems like our police only care about speeding, drink driving and mobile phones... It's interesting how different our states are.

I am fairly certain that you are allowed to cross double white lines to enter a private property? Or is that a single white line??
Sht I can't remember, have a look in the road rules book

You can cross a single white line to enter a property / shop entry etc.

You should never cross double white lines - they are put there because that section of road has poor visibility making turns, u-turns, overtaking dangerous.

The house I live in at Wellington Point is brand new, so the council hasn't put the gap in the double-white lines out the front of the house, but every night I cross these double-lines, in front of coppers occasionally as well (insane police presence at welly pt) and they don't do anything, as long as I give way, they don't worry.

That fine is absolutely ridiculous, I would be contesting it

Try grounding ALL grounds to a common point If it is too difficult to do this, get a "ground loop noise reducer" (isolator). If you have more than 1 main ground to sound system, you cause a ground loop = engine/access' noise

If the council hasn't put a gap in the double white lines then it is that way for a reason - i.e. there is not enough distance to adequately judge a gap in traffic according to the design rules. That fact is unlikely to change, so I doubt that they will make a gap in the double whites any time soon.

Just because they didn't get you before doesn't mean that what you were doing was legal.

There are two houses next to us, and when those houses were built (both finished about 1 month before ours), the council did remove the double white lines in front of their driveways....
