I'm on my second BA and not totally quallified to speak of the BGs anyway here is my 2c. All of the Australian BAs had power locks on all doors except the drivers door. The only models that had power locks on all four doors had factory remote central locking and they came with Mazda transponders.

BG's all had central locking. all series' had motors in every door except drivers which were triggered by the drivers door
if its not working: A) Dead fuse B) Dead microswitch in drivers door C) Plug is farked in drivers door D) All 3 motors are dead (unlikely!) E) Stupid previous owner has disabled it (remote locking once installed?)

my 89 's got central. you said you took the trimm off the door and there was no motors? try looking at the passingers door, might have been a re-fit from a place that stole the motors.
when i first got mine the back window didint work 'cause when the previuos owner got a window replaced they stole the working swicth and replaced it with a dud.

HI shaikaka - i took both trims off and both look the same. I don't even know what I'm looking at, really! just some wires and stuff but, nothing I can see would control CL.
Davo -what is the B) Dead microswitch in drivers door? has anyone got any pics of what I should be seeing behind the trims? the metal post that comes down from the lock at the top of the door isn't attached to anything so, I can only assume my Astina does not have CL, although red book and other research says it should. I can get CL installed one day, however, I will always be curious as to where the factory setup went and as to why this car hasn't got it when it should. thanks for your input and help. Kerri ( shaking her head and wonding why?)

check your passenger door by taking the trim off and feeling inside the door in the bottom corner under the lock, the motor should be there. there won't be one in the drivers door.

I've got the door trims off at the moment in the back, and from what I can see the power locks sit between the outer door (ie the other side is outside the car) and the inner metal. I really doubt that you don't have it, it's much more likely that you do have central locking but can't see it, and that something is not working as it should.
Edit: lol, posted before davoaust's last post was up. |
