Some new photos, just click on it to see more, I can't be bothered linking them all

I've started collecting parts for the CarPC install in the dash and wired the sunroof so I can use it whenever.

I also bought another car. A 1989 Ford Laser KE. So I've joined the Mazda family again... Kind of...

Went with a Lilliput 7" 669GL-70NP/C/T-H. I'm doing the opposite, installing the screen first so I can run my iPhone through it for GPS. Just until I can set up a computer in a few months time

Sweet, have you already got it? I'd love to hear what you think of it, as I know you're a perfectionist! Im thinking I'll buy this screen, maybe not in the enclosure, but same specs. Just wondering if its worth the extra money.

Yeah got it here on my computer. Haha it's exactly what I expected, nice and bright, the touch screen is resistive so it's different to use than a phone or iPad but that's not really a problem, just different.

Mine was $230 or something, I don't really think that much extra is worth it for capacitive, in my opinion anyway. When you're in a car I can't imagine multi touch being useful, plus I found with my last resistive screen, when you're driving you accidentally touch the screen very lightly a lot while aiming for buttons, might be a problem with capacitive.

Having said that my set up is on a budget so went for the cheapest screen that'll do the job

Can't comment on the screen's readability in sunlight yet but hoping to get it in the car in a few weeks.

Thanks, it's so good having more power! That's the main reason I upgraded, although now I can actually get more power out of the car I kind of want more haha.

Thought about matching the fogs but after seeing pics I think the contrast looks better. Plus they go with the gold nuggets behind the wheels

The car computer sounds like an awesome idea! Is that just going to be like an all in one audio/visual/navigation/etc. device?

It would be interesting to see how you put it all together

Yeah, wanted to do it in the SP20 but that meant running more amps where the liberty is a bit easier. It'll have everything, music, radio, TV, GPS, engine management etc...

Not sure if this pic will work or not but it's a pic of the screen mounted in the dash as a test fit.

Looking good! Nice, flush OEM look.

How much would something like this cost all together? (if you don't mind me asking)

Cheers, should look right in place once it's all finished.

Umm it's up to you really as to how much you want to spend. $600 will get you a basic screen and computer that will do the job. Then you've got accessories on top of that though.
Or you can go all out and get screens worth $600 on their own, then computers worth well over $1000...

One thing to remember in the Mazdas though is that if you replace the headunit you'll need an amp to power all your speakers which is a bit of work if it's not already done...

I dunno about Dan, I paid about 500 for accessories and laptop, 250 for the screen, plus software if you want to use centrafuse.

Cheers. I decided it looked cleaner with them hidden, so I took apart the button control panel and it now sits behind the screen. I can only use them with the screen pulled out but that should be fine as I should only need them for the inital set up.

I still need to paint the fascia, this was just a test fit, then run all the wiring properly and put everything back together.

At the moment it's just running off my iPhone, so that's the TomTom app being mirrored on screen, and the audio comes through the factory aux in. Doing an exhaust system for the car first then I'll set up a proper computer for it.

Let me know if you find something good. I don't think any of the PC ones available are as good as the TomTom app on my phone by the looks of it...

Bit of an update, had my first track day the other week, awesome fun! Very impressed with how the car went considering it's stock. Enough power and the handling was more than adequate

Also finished the screen off (still needs to be touched up). Looks right in place just like I wanted.
