Nah the tripod wasnt leaning, but the part that attaches to the camera can pan(left to right), tilt(up down) and swivel (labdscape to portrait) but the problem with the last one is that it was darkso I couldn't tell if it was at perfect 90, and it doesn't have a bubble for that purpose, nor did I know at the time it actually hits a tab when it's perfect lol so the photo is askew

I think you chose wisely. I hear that the 24-70mm F2.8 L lens is the shiznit. Otherwise the 24-105/135mm are fairly good while offering a more flexible zoom range, at the expense of some quality. Bear might know more about Canon lenses?

Have you considered getting a flexible lens with good magnification [ie: can focus closer to the subject], and then whack a cheap macro filter on it to get even better macro with tele? This will save you money, lens swapping, and carrying more gear around. It also keeps you away from your subject, so it won't get disturbed, shadowed or excited into stinging you.

What's causing so much vignetting Marc?
I got a B+W Circular Polarizing filter for my lenses today Is there anyway to get this sort of fisheye effect without buying one of the very expensive fisheye lenses? (Don't want vignetting but doesn't have to be a full 180degrees) |

It's not a matched WA lens, so it's more of a fisheye at 0.45X.
My cousin made a panorama from several frames, and then turned it into a 360deg fisheye in PS. Last edited by chicaboo; 19-01-2011 at 12:54 AM. |

haha, the vignetting is special
As Gav has said, its not a proper WA lens, but for $20 its a bit of fun Just remember, this is only a $200 camera...

Looks like I won't be able to make it this Sunday as I currently have no car and it doesn't look like I will have even made up my mind as to what im going to do with mine, let alone have it fixed by then.
I would come on my Peugeot Speedfight scooter but I know there is no way in hell that I would be allowed to use my GF's Canon 5D MK II if im on it. |

"Purchased" Adobe Lightroom, so thought I'd have a go at "selective colouring" some pics that I posted a week ago... Please let me know how I can better myself with this, as its basically all self taught

Looks good, the colours are nice, although the contrast is a bit high (might be because you took the pics in the middle of the day though), and you might want to invest in a Circular Polarising Filter to cut back some of those reflections too
