You could always get one of these short shifters:

I had considered a S/S but have been told it may increase the notchyness and 1st/2nd issues i have.

Id nab one in a heartbeat were these resolved. mainly the difficult 1st second transition, its "rough" and more difficult to actually move whilst 2nd/3rd etc no probs... quite the annoyance really...

dont get me started on the clutch but i hope to fix that with a fluid bleed/flush.

Hey, anyone know how to calculate the change is wheel track? Is it just change in offset multiplied by 2.

Eg. If my current wheels are 14 x 5.5 with +45 offset
and
I want new wheels which are 16 x 7 with +35 offset

Is the increase in wheel track an increase of 20mm?

Offsets are funny things. The smaller the number the further out the wheel will sit. Lets look at the two different types of rims you described above - I will look at one side only and then x2).

Firstly, your offset has gone from +45 to +35 - which is an increase of 10mm.

Then you have increased your rim width by 0.75 inches (offset and track increments are measured from the middle of the rim), which is an increase of 29mm.

The total width increase on one side is 39mm. Now to get your track you need to multiply by 2 (both sides). Therefore, your track would increase by 78mm.

Hmmm i dunno about that calculation, isnt it true that if you get wider wheels and dont change offset then the wheel track stays the same?

Widened by 58mm in total. Not a problem for a BA Astina
