i actually like the kit, but you really dont get anymore money in selling a moded car to a stock car..

Prices aside, I think you'd find it a lot harder to sell the car with that kit on it. If I was buying the car I'd pay less for one with that kit, although the colour, wheels and ride height on that one would make me willing to pay some more.

It'll be worth less with the kit, to be honest. Unless it's a sought-after performance car (which to be honest, a Laser or SP20 is not), mods often make a car worth less when it comes to resale.
If you want to modify it, do it because you want to - not because you're thinking of resale.

a great example is phly's car. seats, suspension, exhaust etc, bodykit, and now selling for 7500. one in good conidition maybe 3K unmodified? but. im guessing he still spent $1000+ for the bodykit, $500+ for exhaust/intake, $1200 for the seats, $1000 for the rims, etc... all adding up to the sale price. BUT slamming it, massive stereo and huge bodykit comprimising ride and useability will most likely lower the price. id prefer to build it myself, as most people seem to. you will NEVER make money off ricing up a ford or mazda, unless it was a steal when you bought it. (well, not literally a steal!)
fyi, ive spent more than $5k on this project already, and never expect to see more than 3-4K once sold in good condition, the problem is, people can buy a newer nicer car which looks like its been owned by a grandma rather than a P plate hoon...and thus choose something else, unless you can find someone who appreciates the work that has been done to it.

The fact that the car has low KM and is in good condition means that this car would be worth a lot more stock than modified.
I have just put an imported motor in my car and now expect it to be worth half what it was, even though I have improved my car!! |

$5000, SR2/SP20's arent worth anything anymore, cause they are basically a 10yo car...
And also the bodykit on THREAT SR2 is all custom, done by a company in Toowoomba

Most SP20's are advertised around the $8k mark and SR2's are priced a bit below $8k. Just look at what is on carsales.com.au and see what price they are selling at. A bit of research will take you a long way

I was taking into fact that the car is modified, which in most cases wont increase the value of the car, but actually decrease the value, so my $5000 suggestion is pretty much on par for a SR2

...and modified slow cars sell for less, as they cater to a much more focused audience.

Well I got my sp20 6 months ago and I paid $9200 (low kms, just hit the 100k) so I would suggest you would get much the same unmodified.... Tbh when I look at cars forsale I like to see light mods, wheels etc, clean paint and I'd expect to pay more... Except if it's riced up I wouldn't trust it with a stick, just screams thrashed, even though it's probably very well cared for. So if you want a decent resale don't go mad with mods

i dont know about sr2 but i know there is alot of lightly modded sp20s out there and quite a few on the market too, i dont think youl get less money for the mods if there tasteful mods that most people would like.
