BPT forged internals

Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting forged internals for the bp motor this month but I don't know what's the best comb (piston and rod) out on the market ATM. There are heaps of kits on eBay but how good are they actually..

Cp forged pistons and eagle rods R the ones I'm looking ATM..

And what r the best bet for main and small end bearings??? Genuine or is there an aftermarket version out there??

I am using JE pistons and rings and was off ebay and run ETD racing rods as their website say they are tried and tested on the MX5 for about 600hp from memory a lot cheaper than going carrillo rods, bearings i think the shop used ACL race bearings im not sure

I am fan of arias pistons. Any motor I have had has always ran silent with these branded pistons. I have heard wisco piston chatter at idle in a bp n/a and heard other rumours of excess noise with wisco pistons.

Again if whether they were installed properly is another thing

What do you want from the rod/piston? What rpm range? Etc.

8.5:1 would be raising the compression on a bpt.

and if you're chasing 7.5-8.0Krpm, you might even need to go higher compression again. hope you got a very good tuner lined up Matt.

BPs in the BG and BA were 9.0:1 (really 8.8:1), but not the BPT... they were 8.2:1

at 20psi, you better start worrying about breaking the gearbox instead of the engine!

lol ok sorry let me be clear, standard rev range is fine for me.. 8k would be to much and i'd have no touque down in the low rpm range.

I would go with wiesco pistons and what ever brand of rods you want. The eagle rods are a little heavier than some of the other rods but a good rod for the money. Only reason I say Wiesco is because they have a protective coating that holds up to high heat for a longer period of time than the others. I have a set of Weisco 9:1 pistons in my bp. A stock bp with a good tune with take 300 whp for quite a while but the rods are the weak point. Oil pump gear have also been known to break. I would invest in a set of boundary engnering oil pump gears they are good insurance.
