eunos 30X Engine Questions...

Heya guys..

i got some questions..

does anyone know how much a 30X engine would cost...

And

Which would be better to replace a engine or recondition it
cause my gf wants to buy a eunos 30x but the person that owns it had a oil leak... and the person never looked and checked oil.. so we aint sure how long the thing ran without oil... me and my brother looked yesterday and it was bone dry....

we topped it up and yeh it ran better again.. but we are kinda afraid the damage has been done...

So like i was wondering if anyone would know what to do... my gf really likes 30x's and this one is her mums car its a 97 model with 204000 kms on it cause of being driven to syd and back since it was purchased.now my gf wants to buy it off them... and shes like it ever since they got it... and yeh.. lol

so yeh i would wanna know any info on reconditioning or replacement with a reco .... or sum **************** like that .... so any help would be great on this topic i know you fellas are car smart and can help me out =D

thanks later =D

204k and next to no oil on last check? HOLLY$#!T Those are a tiny 1.8 V6 yeah?
Even with cruisy old mamma style driving that would have to be rooted when baby girl goes to put her foot down after she gets it...
Put a really thick oil in it if she does ahead with it hey. Now there's oil to blow past the rings it probably will...

Goodluck,
Gav.

Gav is spot on the mark. The poor old rings would have copped a flogging and now the lifters are probably screwed as well. How much will she get it for as she is probably getting a low k model elsewhere, if the car has been neglected who knows what other problems will surface and then she will hate her mother for selling her a dud. My recommendation is to talk her out of it and then take her shopping for a better maintained model. As with all v6 they will bite you in the ass if not maintained

the car was looked after.... very well... only the oil factor... and only this one time it has happened... other than that... its been in looked after perfectly..

Her oldies said they are quite happy to give it to em for 6g.... and that car has been drivin since they got it on long distances not quick lil short trips say.... Wollongong to past North Ryde every day since it was purchased and was alway looked after for that reason.

Then 3 yrs ago changed from north ryde travel to cambletown

We put High performance Penzoil oil in it...and it seemed to run alright again... soooo yeh.... i dunno what to do ... its really her choice and all =D

But thanks for the Input guys anymore would be helpful =P

i guess the big question is:
was it low oil or really bone dry??

no oil involves a loss of oil pressure, low oil involves no oil on the dipstick

mmm i agree with ur g/f!
i like the eunos 30x. a v. sleek looking coupe. shame about the kms thou, but at least she knows the history of the car and knows it's been cared for - cept for the oil factor - but hey, we all make mistakes!

slot in a KLZE.. will just bolt up .. but you require the angled neck/intake one.. probably the same $ as the 1.8.. look into it on mx3.com

nah she is happy with the 1.8l...

she not into the engine conversions and stuff..

She would rather get the engine she got now reconditioned....

A mechanic said that cause the car been run long distances and not stop start that no matter the k's its still a good engine.....

he did say ouch bout the oil tho..

When i checked the dip stick... the engine stalled....

sooo yeh im guessin no oil...

but i dont reakon anything wrong with the actual engine... its running perfectly now ... after the oil top up... so yeh... maybe we saved it.... =P (Maybe)

my gf's input... its such a perty car =P

i'd say see how much oild it uses in the next 500kms.

but i'd be very reluctant to touch an engine that's run that dry - easpecially a mazda v6.

i think a lot will depend on how she needs it,

I could not gaurntee this hasn't been done to my car as it was second hand.

I would certainly warn her it could have a lot of down time if the engine does turn out to be shot, order and recieve, booking in work, getting it done, etc.

Could be quite lengthy,

6k seems pretty cheap what do they usually go for?
