No real comparison to the Queensland floods but this is what I drove through coming back from Cranbourne yesterday.

I am wondering what was learnt on Friday, a lot of new estates flooded like crazy, I ended up outside most of the night unblocking street drains to save us from flooding in an older area.....not because our place couldn't cope but, due to some blocked drains on Springvale road overflowing down our street, some neighbours not cleaning out their gutters and the whole lot ending up coming up our driveway, if we hadn't had a huge big pit drain and me out there unblocking everything our house would have been inundated.

But the 2 brand new duplexes across the street flooded inside completely and their entire plumbing only came out through a tiny outlet into the street gutter....whoever did their plumbing I suspect is in big trouble. The houses guttering and roof leaked from the get go and couldn't cope with the volume.
