i'll try and get a pic sorted showing how they work, they also seem to project alot of light out the side of the car and concentrate light about 600mm off the ground and below 600mm they fade out the a light haze if that makes sense. the factory halogens still concentrate flat about 600mm high but make more light below 600mm and none out the sides.

HIDs in projectors will **** over halogens in projectors anyday...even a dead HID in a projector is better than a hallogen hahaha...

maybe they are not full 35w as they say they look the same brightness on the h3 55w lights when looking directly at them from a distance and they are supposed to be 3x the brightness of halogens so maybe they are on 19w HID's..

you can get hid bulb's that have shields on them to stop light from going outwards

I thought the only ones with the sheilds on them are the H4 as these are never in a projector housing?

Another HID question:-

8000K? Has anyone had issues with the popo with the bluish colouring?

I'm thinking of getting the 8000K as 6000K is too bright, I was having issues driving back from skidpan with Astinas fitted with 6000K blubs, as I could not see as the light reflecton thru my mirrors was extreme. And 6000K are almost the same brightness as original high beams.

So I'm thinking the bightness loss from 8000K should fix this issue? And gain rep points at my local maccas?

4300K's would be enough me thinks for you Ryan, as thats what I was blinding you with You'll prolly find 8000K's to be way too bright, and attention grabbing by the coppers..

8000k will be very annoying to other drivers, even tho 4300k is technically brighter, its still white, while the blue given from 8000 will be more attention grabbing. overall the brightness to other drivers will be about the same, but the bluer it is the less you will c and more you will anoy others

Marc, you are confusing lumens and kelvin.

4300K being a neutral white colour will be the brightest available. Still 6000K is very close and still super bright. And as you move higher up the kelvin temps, the bluer and and darker the light becomes.

Iunderstand that 8000K will attract attention (as per my post). Amd I'm not too fussed with this as I don't do the night-time laps/cruise sceen any more. Just was curious whether it reaalt does attract that much popo attention of not?

What I do wanna know is that as 8000K is not as bright as 4300K/6000K, would it be better you use as the brightness wont effect/blind other drivers so much?

And as HIDs are 2x/3x more brighter than halogen bulbs, will the slight loss of brightness from using 8000K really effect my vision?

if you want to know how much of a prick 8000k-12000k lights are, try being behind a 300c, any new BMW or Honda Accord Euro for 30mins and come back to me

They are pretty bad, they may be better for highway driving, but if you are the person infront of them, they really will piss you off...

well i find that the 300c's are the worst, next followed by the honda accords and bmw x5's... the 4300 imho from marcs car seemed to hurt my eyes more than the blues from either tony's or my car at one meetup a while back. but i agree - i prbably annoy a few drivers, but i actively drive in a position which wont catch their side mirrors - because thats the real blinding spot! (and the fact you cant see anything out of them!) ive found if you tilt the rear vision mirror up (as per normal night driving) its not bad at night, except for a few moments when those bloody 300's go over a crest or something. otherwise its not really an issue for me>)

i think i'm just gonna go with 8000K. more blue = less bright. i can always change the blubs if i have issues later on.

for those with HIDs, did you re aim your headlights slightly lower once you installed them?

I reaimed mine when I installed them and you also really notice the right hand cut off. Will hopefully install some high beams soon. And as for Marcs I think yours are set too high from what I saw when driving at night.

They were aimed pretty high when I first installed them (as the eyelids cut off most of the bright light) but re-aimed them just before skidpan day weekend, so what meet up are ya's talking about

Ryan you may find yours will be pretty spot on from the get go as for aligning them lower, as you are putting them into projector housings whereas most just put them into normal fragmented housings, the main difference being our lights scatter a lot more to the sides...

Fragmented are not just to the sides they go everywhere. I found out that HIDs are also "meant" to have a lens washer as dust and grime can reflect the beam and apparently blind oncoming traffic. What gets me is that cars that have these washers usually never use them. Yes marc I was talking about skidpan but I thought your lenses were projectors as well? If they are not then that explains it.

I have to say any 4wd fitted with HIDs are the worst (X5's mainly) and the 300C. The accords aren't too bad but you can tell when they are behind you.
