Id like to know this b4 i pull things apart and find some nasty surprises. For any1 thats done this b4 could you please write up some sort of guide it would be muchly appreiciated, cheers Theo

mmm... Dunno what they're like on the astina, but on the charade (applause callipers), there's a little allan key under a nut on the inside of the calliper, which you turn to release the piston back into the calliper, and forms part of the hardbrake self adjust mechanism...
I assume it won't be much different for the astina, but being a combined handbrake caliper you'll find that there will probably be an adjust mechanism of some variety... those actually with an astina may be of more assistance!

Can confirm the alan key under a nut on the BA. Does not push in or twist in.
It isn't difficult to spot as there aren't too many nuts in the caliper. Remember to release the handbrake before you do the rear brakes, it makes the job soooo much easier.

Hey theo,
Behide the calliper there is a bolt (I think its 14mm) undo that and inside it is a alan key bolt. You have to losen it all the way then unbolt the calliper off the car and change ur pads. After that, Make sure your handbrake is down and bolt it back up and do up the alan key bolt again. Make sure ur turning the disc around till u see it stop, then losin the alan key off abit but make sure u can hear alittle contact with the disc. do the other side the same. That will adjust your handbrake theo. Dont forget to put the 14mm bolt back on coz you will lose your alen key bolt. Hope this help mate

Yeah ive only replaced the fronts aswell on my car,the rears are still the original pads from new, which makes them nearly 9 years old haha.
Cant wait to get the new Lucas pads in front and rear and some new brake fluid, should have some nice stopping power teamed up with my slotted rotors.
