New car...all positive opinions are welcome
Hi guys, it's been almost 2 years spending with my lovely V6 hardtop astina but unfortunately it's time to move on to something with similar curves but smaller and has more torque. Well guys I'm not much of a revhead and with little budget of 20K i like something small, automatic but has to have atleast 2L engine. Don't mind the new Liberty but at the price of 40K I'll have to buy powerball.thanks in advance... like i said all opinions are welcome

Good luck finding a smaller car with similar styling than the Astina and more torque
that the 112kw V6. Maybe the Miller Cycle Eunos with 150kw or a 180sx turbo. The SP20 will be a step down for you as only 98kw. regards Mal

hmmm, small and more than 2L are difficult requests - at least down the lower end of the price range.
maybe a VW Golf GTi/Bora VR5 - but i've got no idea what they retail for 2nd hand these days. but thats not really similar curves just do a 2.5L conversion to it LOL

what about the current shape honda prelude (semi-auto option). classy and sporty in one. 2 door though. the vti-r will push your budget up a bit, but i'd consider it .
my two cents.

Astra Convertible is way out of budget.... even second hand.
Auto is going to cost you more... or reduce your options. Do some searches on the internet sites like drive.com by punching in your spend limit and auto option and see what it gives you. Go and look at what sort of cars it spits out. Do the local golden mile in the car yard game. Always look at cars higher in your bracket at Dodgy Bros Car Yards though. If you can't knock $5K off a car, you aren't trying hard enough, LOL Like I always say "never pay retail" |

Whoa, guys.
If the budget is circa 20k then you probably won't get an Astra turbo or golf GTi for that as they are both around $45k new. The Golf's are a nice ride (especially with the turbo ) & look & feel well built. Nice one Kraut's! But the service/parts would rattle ya wallet. My mate has a GTi with around 50 thou on the clock. Just out of warranty & the window came off the regulator inside the door. Result: can't put the window up. VW gladly did it & charged him $535. I did my own once before in my Toyota in around 1/2 an hour. The Fast 4's write-up said the Astra T was not bad but a bit light on the steering hard into corners (well it is a FWD!). Ciao. |

Hey guys, WOW so many feedbacks thanks all especially Asterix...the site was pretty useful. Well it looks like i have to reconsider the idea fo getting another car.... surely new prelude has the look but no power and still doesn't have the curves of a hardtop astina. Might have the engine for a major service and have the car for another year or so or until i find something decent.

Renault Clio Sport? Small (OK Tiny) 124Kw, more torque than any of the other non-turbo hot hatches....
Reasonabley cheap to insure, goes nice and fast... (but stuff does fall off them)... Used examples can be had for low to mid 20K. Most should have the bugs ironed out by now. The 60000km service is a killer at $800 (accessory belts - engine out job) Timing belt at 100000km is another engine out job for $1200.... It takes approx 10 hours to drop the engine and refit..... But impressivley fast car for the size....

Asterix - Astra Turbo is an absolute hoot to drive. Dead on zero lag, handling brilliant, steering fine. Possibly the reason it won Bang For Your Bucks 2003!
As someone else mentioned, maybe a 30X. Worth about the same as your Astina and has the V6. Otherwise theres a 300ZX auto near me for sale $19900 dealer in perfect cond, 110000kms.

929 is a tank. cross it off.
I think there was a 500SP at one stage, not sure about differences tho.
