"How to": Slot BC Coilovers on Protege5/MP3/MSP/ES
This is for the US version of Pros, but will most likely be the same process.
While this may not be for everyone, it will help people who want more aggressive camber settings. Stance, track, hella..whatever you wish. I've had a few people request me to create a simple "how to" thread on slotting coilovers. This will give you the added camber you need. Whether it be for better cornering, or to fit some crazy offset wheel, this mod may help you out. I would like to thank Adam aka Protege03ak46 for the killer idea. I merely did the video, albeit not a great one. lol While I do know that this is not for everyone, I expect to keep this thread clean and free from flaming and negative comments. No need for that here. You either find it useful or not. Thats it. You'll find the following in the description of the video as well: Special thanks to Adam (Protege03ak46) and Mike (weaksauce) for the idea! Thanks bros! This is just a "how to" as I did it. Your particular application may vary. This process *should* work for most similar bodied coilover set ups that dont have camber plates. I did notice however, when you start to approach the -5* camber mark, the brake line tab on the BC coilover, digs into the frame. So its either use less camber, or break off the tab and zip tie the line, like Adam suggested. Again, this procedure worked out great for me. Very little rubbing now, whereas I was rubbing quite a bit before. Take your time when doing this and use at your own risk. 1. remove top 17mm bolt 2. loosen the lower 17mm bolt only 3. measure top hole 4. lube up the top hole with wd or similar 5. insert drill into top hole (7/16 bit) 6. put one lug nut onto stud 7. put socket over lug nut 8. take pipe on slide it over socket 9. pull up on bar as you start drilling 10. dont use too much force while pulling up on the bar. go slow 11. lube more if needed 12. measure your cut again 13. clean everything off 14. reinstall socket over lug 15. pull up on bar while tightening the lower 17mm bolt 1st 16. now tighten the upper bolt still pulling up on the bar. this will help insure you are using all the camber the new slotting has to offer 17. enjoy new camber *Note* This is for the rear only, but will most likely be a similar process for the front if you choose to do so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU5lJtJ3lNA (hope that vid shows) lol |

*update*
so after a month or so of doing this mod, Im pleased to say I've found no slippage of bolts or any other adverse effects.
