Hey! That's cool!! Daniel could try that around the outside of the LED's in the rear tail-lights! How good would that look? That does look pretty cool, even on a CRX

I'm guessing you just put them in the oven like this guy??

I wonder how it'd look on an astina though. Our lights look fairly small..

Always loved the genuine angel eyes. Not sure how they'd go on an Astina, but hey, worth a try!

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't someone here (I am thinking of Dan for some reason) have a DIY link to this before?

yeah, i posted this up a while ago

i was thinking about doing it, as i dont currently have parking lights, but havent got around to it.

And yep, you'd have to heat the astina headlights to open them up.

I will be going to see Merv/Ken soon, I will ask about some imperfect lights while I'm there.

While I can't really see the 'point' of doing that with the headlights the guy has worked out a protty damn good method of doing it.

Would be interested to see it adaped into those 'euro' tails that some owners of other cars (Hondas for example) import from the USA without the right number of lenses/bulbs to meet our requirements...

They'd look hot on the rear of skylines or other round tail light cars

It's not really the amount of lenses/bulbs. well, it is, but...

As far as i know, the only legal requirements are to have an orange turn indicator and a red reflector that is a certain percentage of the brake light, as well as the usual reverse light and brake light/stop light.

but as you said, a lot of the fully clear lights dont even have that...

*nods* To match my words with a example known to me...

Aussie Chrysler Neon:

Brake/Parkers
Rear Fog
Reverse
Indicator
Reflector

US "Euro Clears"

Brake/Parkers
Reverse

Most guys simply put out indicator bulbs into the reverse hole with an amber bulb, Kept the Brake parkers and didn't worry about reverse or the fog. I could see the angel eyes at least looking cool and kinda working within spirits of the rules

A.

i'm going to attempt to make mine reasonably legal.

im getting a mate to make me up some LED taillights in roughly this design

http://hrdwrbob.net/mca/uploads/rupe...lights_led.jpg

where the outside ring is taillight
inside red is brakelight/reflector
orange rings are indicators
black ring is reversing light (white doesnt show up on white)

also, the outside red will glow brighter on brake application

so all that is vaguely representative of legal...

With those new fangled hi brightness LEDs you'll rock in the legal side.... but, and this is only a but, check to see if you're also required to have light spillage from the parkers to the side rear of the car....

Dammit there shoudl be a copy of the ADRs around somewhere online....

that's an interesting point - hadn't really considered that.

i'm trying to thinks of an australian delivered car that doesn't have that kind of spillage...hmmm

as i intend to inset the lights by say 30mm.

but really, if i'm going to get canaried, it'll be for other stuff

Do LEDs shine too strongly through the red light casing on the rear lights?
