What kind of Astina is mine?
due to all the newbies asking (not that that's a bad thing...)
Astinas are commonly referred to as BG , or BA or BJ on this site. It helps to know which model you're asking about as they're all different. Australian releases too. so: BG - 1989 - 1994/6 Hatch: BG10P1 Astina Hatch - 1.8 SOHC - July 1989 - Feb 1991 BG10P1 Astina Hatch SP - 1.8 DOHC - July 1989 - Feb 1991 BG10P2 Astina Hatch - 1.8 SOHC - March 1991 - May 1994 BG10P2 Astina Hatch SP - 1.8 DOHC - March 1991 - May 1994 Sedan: BG1061 323 Sedan - 1.6 SOHC - July 1989 - Feb 1991 BG10P1 323 Sedan - 1.8 SOHC - July 1989 - Feb 1991 BG1062 323 Sedan - 1.6 SOHC - March 1991 - May 1996 BG10P2 323 Sedan - 1.8 SOHC - March 1991 - May 1996 BA - 1994-1998 (CBA) Hatch: BA11P1 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - May 1994 - Aug 1995 BA11F1 Astina Hatch - 2.0 V6 - May 1994 - Aug 1995 BA11P2 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BA11F2 Astina Hatch - 2.0 V6 - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BA11P3 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - Oct 1996 - May 1998 BA11F3 Astina Hatch - 2.0 V6 - Oct 1996 - May 1998 Sedan: BA11P1 Astina Hardtop - 1.8 DOHC - May 1994 - Aug 1995 BA11F1 Astina Hardtop - 2.0 V6 - May 1994 - Aug 1995 BA11P2 Astina Hardtop - 1.8 DOHC - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BA11F2 Astina Hardtop - 2.0 V6 - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BA11P3 Astina Hardtop - 1.8 DOHC - Oct 1996 - May 1998 BA11F3 Astina Hardtop - 2.0 V6 - Oct 1996 - May 1998 BHA - 1994-1998 also known as BH, BHA, and BA BH1161 Protegé - 1.6 DOHC - June 1994 - Aug 1995 BH11P1 Protegé - 1.8 DOHC - June 1994 - Aug 1995 BH1162 Protegé - 1.6 DOHC - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BH11P2 Protegé - 1.8 DOHC - Aug 1995 - Oct 1996 BH1163 Protegé - 1.6 DOHC - Oct 1996 - May 1998 BH11P3 Protegé - 1.8 DOHC - Oct 1996 - May 1998 BJ - 1998-2001 BJ10M1 Astina Hatch - 1.6 DOHC - May 1998 - February 2001 BJ10M1 Protegé Sedan - 1.6 DOHC - May 1998 - February 2001 BJ10P1 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - May 1998 - February 2001 BJ10P1 Protegé Sedan - 1.8 DOHC - May 1998 - February 2001 BJII - 2001-2002 BJ10P2 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - February 2001 - June 2002 BJ10P2 Protegé Sedan - 1.8 DOHC - February 2001 - June 2002 BJ10S2 Astina Hatch SP20 - 2.0 DOHC - February 2001 - June 2002 BJ10S2 Protegé Sedan Special Edition - 2.0 DOHC - April 2002 - June 2002 BJII-J48 - 2002-2003 BJ10P2 Astina Hatch - 1.8 DOHC - June 2002 - December 2003 BJ10P2 Protegé Sedan - 1.8 DOHC - June 2002 - December 2003 BJ10S2 Astina Hatch SP20 - 2.0 DOHC - June 2002 - December 2003 BJ10S2 Protegé Sedan SP20 - 2.0 DOHC - June 2002 - December 2003 BK - 2004-Current BK10F1 3 Hatch - 2.0 DOHC - January 2004 - Current BK10F1 3 Sedan - 2.0 DOHC - January 2004 - Current BK1031 3 Hatch SP23- 2.3 DOHC - January 2004 - Current BK1031 3 Sedan SP23- 2.3 DOHC - January 2004 - Current any changes, leave a post in this thread.

and the twin cam bg was called the SP
and probably a good thing to note that the hardtop is a sedan ... kinda ... some people might think there was a convertable model

There is a 1.8 SOHC BP engine for the BG Sedans. Like the KF/KH lasers. Just not very common to see.

The Protege sports edition was 2002 not 2001 (ours was built in May 2002, I think and the BJIIJ48 proteges/astina SP20's came out in June I think), I remember seeing the first SP20 Astinas early 2002. Also BJIIJ48's were still being made all through 2003, I think they were stopped sometime Nov/Dec 2003. 3's didn't come out here until late Feb 2004.

We are the Astina and 323 site so I'll ask Mr Peabody to set the wayback machine to '77 to get the FA4 codes.
