Warning - E-mail Virus from within group
Hi All,
Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up that there is a virus going around that is getting into peoples address books (surprise surprise). I got an email from 'Cityend' with an attachment that I wasn't expecting - so naturally I scanned it only to find the worm "W32.Beagle@mm!zip"... So just be careful for the next little while if you get unexpected emails from people in this group. Lets try and stop this one before it rampages around the people in the forum  Shane.

hey shane thanx for the promt heads up!
i didn't even know, what's strange isthat i don't open up spam email i del them, but some how I'm still infected another strange thing is that i don't even have ur email address in my address book, then how was the virus able to send an email to u? I'm also behind a gateway. *very puzzled* i foundthis site, but don't know what to do from here (haven't read through all the stuff properly yet.. =P) http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html |

Remember a lot of virii 'fake' the senders e-mail address. So if a third party to you two guys has it, and has both your e-mail addresses on their system it can create the situation you have above.
We find in University environments this is most dangerous because everyone knows everyone in the organistaion. Hence some clown will always manage to get infected and that creates a huge infection chain. Most of these things search the infected PC for e-mail addresses buried in HTML/Mailbox and other files. A.

Some of those are nasty, especialy when they proxy your name and address and you get the blame. I've had a few of the w32.beagle in the last week coming to my cosmic e-mail (I only use that one for my car stuff) and not on my other accounts.

They may also be able to view [somehow] the email databases of forums like us and then randomly pick someones email out so "use" as the supposed sender... this happened a little while ago on this thread..
Agreed, it is a pain in the arse! AP
