Hi all I'm the newest Newbie!
Hi all!
I just picked up a Relic 88 323GT rigi-dig! Re-painted in original White/Pink Pearl & Black/Purple Pearl....um NOT good choice but orig scheme! Has had Exedy 5 Spokey installed bout' 7-8 months ago Mostly stock except following: BOV Adjustable Boost Controller to 12psi (I think), running 9 @ moment according to seller? 5 Spoke Clutch (bitch to use), finally releases when it's ready but waaaay cool for free Mags but 1 was stolen soooooo, will be gettin another set soon, spare is in use for now I just put 21/2 Cat-back on Friday as it had crimped pipe (instead of hotdog) & one of those pathetic oversize, ugly chrome end pipes,,,eerrrrrrkkkk! God only knows whatgets into peoples' minds. I will wack up some pics later this morn & it is going to be a project from here but it is registered & drives great. Body excel, interior VG for age. I'm thrilled top say the least Buggered if I know what else cause I want it add-ons only, stock turbo & Engine cause I don't wanna bugger originality too much except the car is on stilts due to Elec dash-adjustable Suspension, again, eerrrrkkk! I'll have to get some advice on what, how to lower effectively soon. By for now & hey, great forum! Last edited by NaughtyGT; 15-06-2009 at 08:02 AM. |

I saw a 323GT with original Mazda factory Rally paint scheme being towed up the north coast on one of our last cruises. It's very rare to see these, so I was happy this one was being towed to preserve it. As some ppl know, the 323GT (Rally edition) is my favourite 323 of all time. So if you have one of those, I can't wait to see your pics! I've tried to preserve the originality of mine too (errr, well mine is a KE TX3). So I have only strapped an IHI VF10 with Corksport IC on there with 2.5" piping to go on yet. But the interior and paint will remain original when complete. Unless I go stupid and cage it with racing seats. Velkommin, Gav. |

I'm dying to mod it all up but cause' it's so original, I'm in the middle a bit & need to see how I go. The rally suspension just looks outta touch with low cars of today, know what I mean?
BTW, It's alot colder down here in Vic 70NYD, like 6 deg mornings is usual. I've been here 3 1/2 years & the other winters were mild but not this lil' beauty weather.......shhiiiiiittt! |

I prob will lower it but definately keep orig sus' for keep sakes. Just need to get finances up first.
Main perf' mods I want to do up ahead is bigger, better FMIC & straight through cat or no cat (is this viable/practical) & I'm chasing a set of mags as 1 was recently stolen when seller owned it & I need tyres soon for RWC anyway so I may as well get wheel set now. |

You need to keep the cat to be legal (post 1986). Corksport do an upgrade IC in the stock location, but it has 2.5" inlet/outlet. You can use 90 degree silicone bends with s/s reducer cones to get around that. You can also put a BG GTX BPT dump pipe on there and get a new down pipe and mid pipe with hi-flow cat made up too. All your intake and exhaust piping is 1.75" stock, I'm going with 2.5" on mine. I suspect this is too big for my intake side, but it's too hard getting it all in 2.25", which I believe would be ideal.
Gav. EDIT: If your motor has the "boxy plenum", then you prolly also hav a 4 bolt exahust housing on your VJ6/11 turbo, in which case you can't use a BPT dump pipe without using the 15R exhaust housing from VJ20 also. And that requires elongating the bolt holes to the exhaust manifold. Which is a fair bit more stuffing around... Or you could get a 12R exhaust housing from a VJ14 turbo, but that means getting stuff from 2 different sources. Last edited by chicaboo; 15-06-2009 at 10:58 AM. |

I know the interior is oldschool, later model interior like KE Laser was alot more compatable for today but, that was 88'

The seats in the KE weren't as hugging as the BF's, but the 2 tone grey material with red piping (mine is magenta now ) was nice.
